We won’t let Donald Trump’s allies at Illinois Rising get away with attacking JB Pritzker and lying about his record just because the Governor is standing up to the President. They know there is no legislator pay raise but they are lying about it anyways because that’s what they do – lie.
18 months ago JB Pritzker inherited a state government that had been hollowed out and destroyed by Bruce Rauner and his allies who cut workers and funding at the agency Illinois Rising is now criticizing.
In his first two years in office, JB Pritzker signed a bipartisan balanced budget into law, worked with Republicans to pass an infrastructure plan that is creating and supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs while repairing our crumbling roads and bridges, raised the minimum wage to a living wage for all Illinois workers, and expanded healthcare to 120,000 more Illinoisans. In the fight against the coronavirus, Governor Pritzker has followed the advice of medical experts helping make Illinois one of the states with the biggest decreases in infections and protecting our hospitals and first responders.
Illinois Rising should stop wasting their time falsely attacking a Governor who has stepped up to lead as Donald Trump hides in his underground bunker and spews his racist diatribes.
Both ads will beging running in the Chicago and Springfield media markets tomorrow.

Seen this ad? It’s paid for by the same Republican group who brought you Donald Trump.
But why are they attacking Governor Pritzker? Because he’s calling out the President’s failed leadership.
Don’t believe their lies. State legislators will not be getting raises. It’s Governor Pritzker who worked to pass a bipartisan budget, finding common ground on issues like investing in infrastructure. And he’s worked night and day to help Illinois confront the pandemic.
Governor Pritzker has risen to this moment.
Not sure if much money will be spent on that ad in Trump country.

The truth is, state legislators will not be getting raises.

Good stuff. Although I wonder if these ads will just increase recognition of the claim about pay raises.
And after the November election, when a lawmaker sues and then everyone gets the raises, he may not want people to remember how hard he pushed the narrative that there won’t be raises.

Nothing too “too”, just calling it as they see it.
If anything the Raunerite silliness allows Pritzker to drive his positives and show the Trumpkin failures.
When you think about the person who is a Raunerite running the “other side” of this, putting in “failure”, she gets to be reminded that Rauner signed only ONE budget in 4 years, Pritzker has now signed two
My hope is Pritzker drills these ads in good, letting the phony Trumpkin/Raunerites realize that … “we can’t compete”

To the ad, I’d give it a B. Nothing particularly memorable but it does remind us of what has been a relatively solid response to the pandemic Public opinion has been largely positive on Pritzker’s response so this serves as a good reminder particularly when the ILGOP message is you can’t make me wear a mask.

I’d give them both a B. Can never go wrong with the Trump angle.
A couple of nits to pick: I would have gone a little heavier on third-party testimonials (editorials and the like) complimenting the job he is doing on coronavirus. And why run that pic with the guy with his mask pulled down and hand on JB’s shoulder at the end of the first ad? That will be pointed out in an Eastern Bloc anti-mask tweet in 3, 2, 1…

As a Trumpkin, then you must think Trump is an abysmal failure if you even try to equate Pritzker is below par.

I thought it was pretty much conceded that there was a pay raise in the BIMP and that the state is on the hook for that. At least, legally. The fact that Mendoza doesn’t feel obliged to follow the law aside, if its an authorized increase, there is plenty of caselaw that says failure to allocate funds to that line item is immaterial. A bit bold to call a well supported legal position a lie, but I guess that’s the world we live in now.

Check our success compared to most other states at flattening the curve and then get back to us.
And, by the way, those states you mentioned are all being hailed as success stories in the Covid fight.

I didn’t know Trump won Illinois in 2016/snark. And he avoided mention of the IDES attack for botching up unemployment benefits to those in need from that group. Didn’t even try to tap dance around it.
Give them both a C-. Happens when you rush out a response at a time few are paying attention.

The ad is from the local arm of a national org that helped elect trump. True. The IDES process is far from perfect, but it was also a perfect storm that the agency walked into with a pandemic, outdated processes and lack of leadership. Many states are in the same position - but you know what positions most states aren’t in? Having the best record if beating back COVID 19, which IL owns.
I give both ads a B. Not great, but they do their job.

Generally a bad idea to run an Ad campaign that causes millions of folks harmed by the Team Pritzker Lockdown asking “what about me?”
Talking about yourself in times where so many Illinois families are suffering is not going to move the needle in Team Pritzker’s direction.
I suspect now we will see Ads from the other Team about Pritzker fibbing about his balanced budget.

To track COVID-19 cases by state, this webpage has an excellent interactive graphic that lets you look at cases per day, total cases, and deaths from COVID-19:

As of June 29 a lot of states that had only ‘flattened’ the curve now have fast increases. Florida, Georgia, Texas, Arizona — at this point both Florida and Texas even lead Illinois in the total number of cases.
For Illinois the number of new cases per day is still down, on average. All the strict stay at home measures appear to have worked.

Meh; if you’re going to spend money on an ad, why explcitly frame it in response to the other group? If you’re going to mention them, then use the ad to define them. If you’re going to toot your own horn, just toot your own horn. These seem to try two things at once, both better done on their own.

If I was filthy rich in the US, I’d be more than a little worried right now. The lack of any unifying national culture (other than gotcha and victimization), that tolerates protesters lumping Abraham Lincoln and US Grant together with Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee will probably have little regard, respect or sanctity for wealth created and inherited 25, 50, 75 or 100 years ago. It seems that everything Americans took for granted 6 months ago is on the table now - including tapping into America’s vast store wealth held by a few families.

I have 3 utility trailers do I like paying 3oo$ a year more no I do not but I do like good roads to drive on and realize that they are not free if you wake up in the morning and your toaster toasted its self out you think nothing of it to buy a new one the same is true for our roads they need constant repair and replacement we could drive on dirt roads and spend that 300$ on netflix
