  1. Small thing, but I like the bold links. Makes it a bit more readable.

  2. =Bailey told ABC7 Chicago in an exclusive interview that the suspect mentioned Pritzker’s ads in the voicemail, and for that reason, Bailey says this threat falls at the feet of Gov. JB Pritzker.=

    So by his criteria, school shootings and gun violence falls on bailey.

    This statement from bailey is absolutely offensive to any thinking person. They guy who shoots stuff on camera, holds gun raffles, and has spent the better part of the last two years vilifying Pritzker and others is now blaming Pritzker for his words is a complete joke.

  3. What a baseball game that was last night, the combined no-hitter. Never saw that before. Good for Dusty Baker their manager. He was accused of overusing starting pitchers in the Cubs’ 2003 NLCS collapse.

  4. You go to the ball park, odds are… you’re going to witness history.

    Great baseball last night.

    Dr. Jill Biden in attendance, Stand Up To Cancer tribute during a half inning break.

    I was surprised at so few political ads, no snark. Intentional or not, I found it surprising.

    Agreed.

  7. ==Bailey says this threat falls at the feet of Gov. JB Pritzker==

    Way to condemn hate speech with more hate. That certainly will help the situation.

  8. CWB Chicago has a lengthy story about the guy who threatened Bailey. He really comes across as a total doofus, the whole thing originated in a bar when he got mad at a political ad (Homer Simpson: “Here’s to alcohol: the cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems.”), got into an argument with his friends about Bailey, and made the call to Bailey’s office. He followed up with some Snapchat messages with friends, including one who apparently didn’t even know who Bailey was, before and during the police investigation. The first investigation by the SOS police determined he was not a credible threat, but ISP did make the arrest. The Democratic response has been appropriately correct in condemning this mope, unlike some Republicans response to the Paul Pelosi attack. Gun toting Bailey’s response is just hypocritical.

  9. The bigger side problem is first equating both sides, and both parties face folks with real dangerous thoughts to others, it’s the lack of condemnation by those claiming they want all violence stopped.

    I read here, yesterday, Comptroller Mendoza’s own comment. That was great to see, along with the universal condemnation of this vile voicemail.

    We all need to hold accountable the hate and hate speech, not selectively.

    As I said yesterday, I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, no plea deal that lowers the felonious action or lessens the charge.

  10. Got the Sangamon Sun at home. It reminds me of Royko’s comment about Murdoch papers.

    Shows mugshots of 12 people who ” … would be released into Sangamon County.” 2 white males, 2 black females, 8 black males. Any further description, however accurate, risks “moderation.”

  11. **everything Willy said**

    Agree 100%. Summed up perfectly and there isn’t anything better to be said.

    Those piling up on Bailey, you aren’t helping…..

  12. Also received my one and only copy of LGIS’ Sangamon Sun yesterday. Wow - way worse and less subtle than I imagined from other descriptions on this blog. Are there actually people who read this as legitimate news? And if so, do those people actually read other legitimate news sources?

  13. Finally some publicity fort the atrocious loopholes in Illinois TIF laws.

    –My particular problem with TIF support for this is there’s no ‘but if.’ They’re already here. They’ve already declared their intention to buy the property–

    Costco declared back in the late 00s, that they wanted to build at the intersection of rt30 and I55. It took them years to get all the land they needed. It wasn’t a secret to anyone who was paying even a little bit of attention. There was no need for a TIF, and yet around 2020 the village of plainfield created a TIF that included that parcel as well as some open farmland. It was obvious it was created to allow the village to capture ALL the increases in tax revenue on the property, and not for any specific build-out financing.

    TIF is horrendously broken in Illinois, and needs reform. Without reform every commercial strip of land in every small town will eventually become a TIF district. That’s not an exaggeration, and some towns are already well on that path right now.

    Comment by Amalia Thursday, Nov 3, 22 @ 9:15 am

  16. So if someone threatened JB based on Bailey’s negative ads would Bailey accept responsibility? I think we know the answer.

    Comment by Big Dipper Thursday, Nov 3, 22 @ 9:17 am

  17. =Those piling up on Bailey, you aren’t helping…..=

    Pointing out his hypocrisy is not piling on.

    That should be obvious.

  18. ==Those piling up on Bailey, you aren’t helping==
