Republican candidates for County Board chair question each other’s Democratic ties: If elected to the top job, [Hart] said, he wants to keep taxes flat, make it easier for companies owned by women, minorities and veterans to do business with the county and ensure the sheriff and state’s attorney get what they need to combat rising crime. DiCianni, 55, is a former mayor of Elmhurst who has helped to get several state laws passed, including a measure that requires insurers to cover autism treatment and one that allows police to track cognitively impaired people through GPS wristbands if they go missing.

Hart said he can apply his expertise in management consulting — bringing together “diverse stakeholders that often don’t disagree” — to the chairman’s job. … During his mayoral tenure, the city’s credit rating was upgraded and Elmhurst Hospital was rebuilt. DiCianni won his county board seat in 2012. “It’s about who can lead, who’s put the time in and who’s got the credibility to bring these relationships that have been forged over years to the table to bring the county to the next level,” he said. DiCianni, who touts a list of municipal backers, aims to unify mayors in DuPage, a group that’s “always been divided.”

I get the Fenwick reference to Quinn in the sense that Cronin and Hart went there but I don’t see that losing you a ton of votes in DuPage. Curious where the mailer was directed in the county

These photoshops remind of the silly Madigan playing a “puppet master” kind of ridiculous, but if I were the one in either, I’d always take a tuxedo over a superhero costume as the farce to it all.

they are both silly. but if Cronin wants to get his guy elected, he might spend more time on visibility….there are signs for DiCianni EVERYWHERE in that district. (also good visibility for Casten too.)

As a Republican receiving these and rating their effectiveness, I’d give a rating of D- and F. So I guess by default, the first is better.

How is what you did or where you went to high school matter relevant in an election for County
What do they think this is a hearing for the US Supreme Court?
Jim Durkin is also a Fenwick alumni, is he a Quinn supporter?

The Cronin, Hart hit piece is dead on. Cronin trying to stay in power by using a young new guy who will do his bidding! The printer may want to hire a new proofreader though. The spelling errors are not a good for business.

It is time for someone not in the good old boys network (Cronin and now newly appointed non resident Hart) Republican Party. DiCianni is a Republican but can work with Dems. He has a printing business and doesn’t discriminate so if a Dem wants to use his business he doesn’t say no. Cronin Law business with the County…NO

The Cronin/Hart piece is terrible. Cronin isn’t on the ballot. Few people are actually going to read that Cronin hit piece to see that it is actually a hit piece on Hart.

To a broader campaign tactic, this cycle is all about calling your opponent a member of the other party. In all my years of going through crosstabs and toplines that was always the least salient hit even in a primary. It really shows the way partisanship has metastasized in primary politics.
Also, I am sure there is a photo of Dan in a tuxedo somewhere no need to photoshop lol.

One campaign is accusing its opponent of being an unaccomplished kiss-up that the good old boys network is trying to install on the throne to keep the gravy train rolling.
The other campaign is accusing its opponent of being an accomplished and talented political operative who has worked for Democratic clients.
