  1. Hoping to see a link to Glenn Thrush’s piece on health care in Illinois prisons published by New York Times yesterday. It’s devastating, but more of the same for anyone who has paid any attention. Pritzker renewed Wexford’s contract. He needs to be held accountable for that.

    I’ll stop now.

  2. I guess when you aint got nothing, ya got nothing left to lose, as they say, but what does the Mayor hope to gain by going to Springfield? Hes likely at his weakest point in his term. Further, its not like he can pick up a charming personality at Wallys on his way down. To my eyes his position is only weakened in Springfield come Friday no matter how many Vienna beefs he serves sans ketchup.

  3. I’m probably the only one that it really matters for but ComEd seems to be getting closer to 100% done with their botched billing system upgrade. On Friday they added the most recent billing period hourly pricing comparison to standard pricing. I saved $31.50 for the month of April bringing my total savings so far to $246 over the 8 months that is available on their site. They are still missing the comparison for February and March. I hope they get those posted in the next 2 months so I can have a good year end summary after my first year on hourly pricing.

  4. Why they renewed Wexford’s contract beats me. They are terrible.

  5. Absolutely gorgeous morning with lots of birdsong, and I just keep thinking how excited all these birds are going to be in a week or so when the cicadas emerge …

  6. Thanks to @Justice for All on the suggestion to read the New York Times article on health care for incarcerated people in the Illinois prison system.
It was really well written and worth a read.

Dude, don’t insult Wallys like that.

Ever since I first checked it out 2-3 years ago, it’s replaced the Love’s off Exit 220 as my halfway pitstop between Springfield and Chicagoland, a trip I make 10-15 Saturdays a year.

  8. Rich and Isabel, have you seen this video yet? It’s the most hilarious thing I’ve seen all week and you should feature it as we all prepare for the onslaught of the double broods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=-SmnXlpWmLg

  9. Sox win a series. New announcer says he’s going out to the tailgate of the podcast guys on Saturday. He was out there on opening day. Fun.

  10. Went out earlier this morning to pick some asparagus and watched two bald eagles flying over the open fields by my farm. One of several “inland” pairs (not near the Mississippi or Illinois rivers, and most aren’t migrating much) in our neck of the corn and bean fields. One even perched in a dead tree in the neighbor’s yard a few days back. Would never have seen this many in our area 30 years ago (banned punctuation). From one nest near Clinton Lake in the 1990s to over 7 and counting surrounding the Lake and in nearby counties.
