Remember, Kansas City voters overwhelmingly rejected public financing for a new Chiefs and Royals stadium. The Chiefs have won several Super Bowls and have at least two future Hall of Fame players.
If voters rejected it with that background, how much more opposed will the public be here with losing teams??

A post I saw on Twitter pointed out that one of the concerns voters had with the transfer tax increase was not having a clear idea of how it would be spent and/or lack of trust in the mayor’s office related to how it is spent.
Now he wants to go to bat for giving public subsidies for billionaires? Maybe all those people were right to be skeptical.

One wonders if and when MLB schedules an intervention for the 3-22 White Sox? 15 games behind with a .120 percentage.
It is an exceedingly remote prospect, but it has happened before with other struggling teams. Owners have been forced out. The Montreal Expos were purchased by all of the other teams for a time.
Baseball fans have never witnessed anything as bad as the 2024 White Sox in ninety years or so.

Has there been a response from Mayor Johnson’s progressive or DSA allies about his stadium deal with the bears? You would think they would be opposed but I haven’t seem anything from Chicago DSA or Alderpeople like Ramirez-Rosa.

or, as others have stated, MBJ (and SDG) are looking for a win and/or simply contrarian. Their lack of self-awareness is astounding (e.g. SDG’s kid being in private school).

I am not surprised. I had one friend who ditched Chicago for Rockford some time ago.
While many have focused on Illinois residents who have opted to leave the state, there is another trend that is not generating as many comments. There are residents relocating within Illinois to outlying counties where the cost of living is lower and they are not saddled with the onerous taxes levied in Chicago or Cook County.

Maybe just 36 years–the ‘88 Orioles started the season 0-21. It should not be surprising whom they got their first win that season. Even then, the Os lost two more to be at 1-23 on May 2, 1988:

Even in two of the worst Cub starts in recent memory–1981 and 1997–they still ended up with a few more wins than the Sox do now when both teams reached 22 losses. The 97 Cubs had won 7 games when getting their 22nd loss that May 4. The ‘81 Cubs had 5 wins that May 14 when they got their 22nd loss.

The proposed stadium deal is not going anywhere. It’s not worth discussing further.
And as far as Johnson’s reputation, how could this make it any worse?

Regarding the White Sox and their struggles, they do have pitcher Mike Clevinger and outfielder Tommy Pham coming back soon. Neither have played yet this season, and both are solid players. Neither will make a huge impact, but they’re both solid players and will help.

Bears fans are so beat down by disappointment that we just snagged who many consider a once-in-a-generation talent and I haven’t seen one post about him today.
Just more ineptitude on the stadium front.
