It’s snowing. Winter is back.

The Youtube history Channel, “It’s History,” uploaded a video on the old Riverside Park in Chicago, including frequent mentions of the unrest surrounding it as time progressed.
Good channel to cover a variety of subject, with the host being a former Chicagoan and as a result often covering Chicago-related topics. If you don’t mind his oddly frequent mispronounciations of things and his weird nostalgia for odd things (Chicago’s former yellow street signs and the highway oases, to name a couple), highly recommended channel. Part of the same TimeGhost family that was formerly involved in the Great War channel and now involved in their World War II and soon-to-be Korean War channels.

I think some of Springfield’s roads are worse than some might expect because I saw several motorists who couldn’t make it up the hill by Springfield Southeast High School this morning.

Son called to let me know he made it to work safely, but the roads are lousy.
Going to be a mess for a while. They can’t get the plow trucks out of the yard …

I’m disappointed in ComEd basically shutting down their app for a week for the billing system upgrades. I’m on hourly pricing and can no longer use the app to monitor the price of electricity. I have figured out that I can thankfully use the hourly pricing Comed website for this but I feel like they should have made that option more obvious to hourly pricing customers.
Before anyone says that hourly pricing is a waste of money, I have electric heating and have saved an average of $30 a month on my bill thanks to hourly pricing. Last month I saved $60 on my bill even with the polar vortex raising the price of electricity to above normal rates for a few days.

Would be nice to give some love in a blog post to Alexander’s now that they have formally announced they are closing February 29. More political meetings have been held there over the years than people can count. Hopefully the legislative types will go in next week to say goodbye.

Also, I’ve been around a long time. I’ve seen a ton of restaurants come and go. It’s sad when some of them close, but life always moves on.
