  2. The Joliet Diocese announced yesterday they are closing 5 churches permanently and restructuring the remaining parishes. Total parishes will go from 16 down to 7.

    Despite this being a years long process, the diocese couldn’t help throwing in some blame on the expiration of the invest in kids act in their press release.

  3. IDR needs to update their Property Tax Extension Law Limit (PTELL) CPI Memo. Feds released CPI data on Jan 11, 2024. IDR usually gets the memo out within one day…

  4. I suggest we have a thread discussing word choice in polling. As @ScottTKennedy suggested on Twitter, “Fair” is not necessarily a negative word in terms of job performance. An assessment of “fair” is certainly nothing to write home about, but it is not a motivating opinion for voters, imo. Fair = Fine.

  5. ===“Fair” is not necessarily a negative word in terms of job performance===

    The choices were excellent, good, only fair, poor, don’t know.

    “Only fair” is not neutral.

  6. ===”Only fair” is not neutral===
    No matter what modifier you put in front of it, “fair” is the definition of neutral/mediocre. A “fair” grade is a “C”. Can you do better? Sure. Can you do worse? Yes. Are you going to get thrown out of school? No.

    We’re just gonna have to disagree here.

    Although I agree with you on the meaning of fair, it is negative in the context of this poll. I think the pollsters should have either chosen a different word or added another category to make “fair” neutral in context of the poll.

  10. Jennifer Hudson and Common…yep. and I believe they and Chance are part of the redo of the Ramova on Halsted. it’s already working like a great piece of Bridgeport. with venue space for concerts and other events and a bar/restaurant with what looks to be an awesome menu. what a story. a group of Black investors reopen a venue at 35th and Halsted, in Bridgeport. it’s truly stunning. would be a fun place for a CapFax event.

  11. Speaking of F adjectives, I have read that referring to something as fine is now seen as akin to meh.
