  1. A local church opened an overnight warming center late last week and has been busy. I think a lot of people are shocked that the homeless shelter can’t handle all of the victims of the cold emergency. That’s the myth. But nobody would be surprised if they knew about the machine that cranks out multiple evictions monthly.

  6. Went to the ribbon cutting for the new Helping Hands shelter in Springfield. Great and long lasting use of American Rescue funds. After decades of the ostrich approach, the city seems to be getting serious about homelessness. The leaders on this project seem really capable. Couple of county board members who provided support were there. Didn’t identify any city officials but I got there late.
