After yesterday’s downtown catastrophe, I am hoping that some grown-up from the alphabet soup of advocates will point out it makes no sense for any municipality in Illinois to have a lower environmental standard for siting residentail living construction than the Illinois EPA’s standard.
I also think its pretty shortsighted for the governor’s team to spout off about Chicago using a lower environmental standard than the state of Illinois when, as I understand it, it is state law that says its okay for Chicago to use a lower standard.
Perhaps the IEC, ICIRR, ELPC, Sargent Shriver and others can join forces to address the situation?

Anyone who does not already guess that any piece of land in IL that was “once” a former industrial site was and likely still is polluted in some way. That is what happens under the code words “need for less regulation”

There was an interesting article in the NY Times today about a private (and expensive) police training company that promotes, according to the article, racist, violent and misogynistic training. I checked- does it offer courses here in Illinois- why yes it does.

Illini did a decent job controlling a Florida Atlantic team that still has all but one of their players from last year’s final four team last night, and scored 98 points in the effort. Sure wish we had more than this one season with Marcus Damask- he is as fundamentally sound a player as we have had in a long time. And Terrance Shannon and Coleman Hawkins deciding to return for their last season instead of staying in the draft and possibly going undrafted was great for fans of the Illini . This is a very experienced (by college standards)team that should give us plenty to enjoy in the coming winter months

Why are doctors, lawyers, dentists, nurses, veterinarians, EMT’s, engineers, surveyors, barbers, beauticians, massage therapists, and a whole host of other professionals required to be licensed but not the sole element of civilian society that is permitted to use deadly force?

going to be decent enough weather for golf Th and Fri around Chicago. which again means keep watch on the water needs of the landscape around where you live.
