  1. David Ross to the White Sox? This writer isn’t enamored with that idea:

  3. After the election night losses in other states by Republicans and/or Republican abortion views, will the Illinois GOP finally wise up and move away from MAGA candidates for IL state office?

  4. Illinois lawmakers are expected to address a measure that would change the state’s estate tax value from $4 million up to $12 million, according to Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

The state’s estate tax kicks in when someone inherits a property or assets valued at $4 million or more, requiring the inheritance to pay a tax on the assets.

    So……what happened here ??

Was our Governor out in front of his skis or just wanting to sound like it was time to tackle at least some tax issues in Illinois…?

  5. @ diogenes in dupage. The correct answer is no. They have found a hole that has no bottom. I have been waiting since Allen Keyes ran for the Illinois Republican to hit bottom and every election cycle they amaze me. Percy, Thompson, Edgar, Dirckson and look what we have now. Shows no such thing as evolution

  7. “will the Illinois GOP finally wise up and move away from MAGA candidates for IL state office?” The perennial excuse I hear them say is that the losing candidate lost because he/she wasn’t “conservative enough.” That doesn’t seem to have changed any.

Not so long as the primary system is as it is.

  10. Illinois corn crop is 90% harvested as of 11/5 and the bushel per acre is improving.

The Ag Department’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its Oct. 12 crop production report pegged Illinois’ yield averages for corn at 200 bushels per acre and 61 bushels per acre for soybeans

  11. GOPies getting smoked nationally might encourage a closer look at home. Maybe Smiley LaHood could be held to account for his non accomplishments, the Trump DOJ sweetheart deal for the Confessed Congressman, backing Jim Jefferies, etc. etc. Time will tell.

  12. Seems like everywhere else had elections yesterday but us in Illinois. Instead we have these asinine early April dates for local and consolidated elections and hardly anyone bothers to vote (and its worse if there’s a local primary in late February).

Someone needs to introduce legislation to move all local and consolidated races from the spring to the November Election Day in odd-numbered years. (If a local primary is needed, it could be done around Labor Day). What do you think?

  13. Biden and Pritzker popping into downtown Belvidere tomorrow just after noon feels like a big deal.

  14. =The perennial excuse I hear them say is that the losing candidate lost because he/she wasn’t “conservative enough.” =

Usually not at the state level. More often than not the party seems intent on blaming the voters. And until that changes they’ll continue to be on the outside looking in.

  16. Did I mention that Route 125 from Virginia to Beardstown has a nice new layer of asphalt on it now?

  18. ===nice new layer of asphalt===

Was on I-55 the other day and the asphalt was so black and new it almost looked like it was wet. Kinda freaked me out.

  20. =Did I mention that Route 125 from Virginia to Beardstown has a nice new layer of asphalt on it now?=

Hallelujah. That stretch of road has been rough since at least 2001, and all in likelihood much longer.

Now can IDOT finally get around to repaving new asphalt on stretches of road that have the ugly looking gold-bronze looking asphalt? Which is highly prone to potholes, or so it seems. That ugly asphalt is currently on MacArthur between Wabash and South Grand, and on South 6th near Southern View. Plus even on interstates (55 south of Farmersville, 72 in Pike County). US 136 in Hancock County used to have it until it was replaced by 336 20 years ago.

What was up with old IDOT District 6 and that cheap looking gold asphalt? I never have seen it on state-maintained roads elsewhere in Illinois.
