  1. Good fall weather this week, at least in the mornings/evenings. Hope to finish up the harvest on the farm this week.

  2. The Bears are gonna Bears

  3. It would seem my farmer neighbors are done. Bins neat as a pin. 3000 acres. For lay people, that is just under 5 square miles of land.

Time to rest, and plan the next season.

  4. The Panthers continue to lose, so the Bears may get the top pick even if they don’t earn it on their own merits. And they will likely go for a new QB as Fields has not developed consistency.

  5. Reread Friday’s Paul Powell story. First time through missed that 34 years before Willie Brown did it, Paul Powell got elected Speaker … while in the minority.

  6. Seeing some trees with their leaves now turned entirely red this morning (in northwest Kendall County).

  7. I’m waiting for Bob Morgan to connect the dots that his condemnation of calls for deescalation and his demand for universal condemnation of a child being murdered as victim of a hate crime make him look a bit more like someone who is quick to condemn things rather than someone interested in public policy.

What does “all do our part to keep our neighbors safe” look like in his mind if talk of deescalation isn’t appropriate?

Why a mugshot of the attacker and not a photo of the victim? Maybe it’d be nice to have a follow up post that adds a bit of humanity to the victim of this hate motivated attack instead of directing attention to the attacker.

Come on, Bob. Do you think you’ve utilized your position as an elected official to improve things during this difficult time?

Rep Bob Morgan should consider turning his official twitter page over to staff and stepping back from his knee jerk posts that do nothing beyond creating division within our state. If he can make an argument for how he thinks he is helping things, I’d love to hear it. But that might require more introspection than I’ve seen him be capable of recently.

  8. Trump Jr fundraising for Bailey as the GOP continues to eat its own. Between this and the lack of a Speaker, I’m gonna need more popcorn

  9. Enjoying the 24/7 wail of train whistles here for the first time in years, since the rail quiet zone along the Canadian National in Lake County has been suspended. Apparently the metric for acceptable safety levels changed and a number of crossings need to be improved before CN can run silent again. What I can’t figure out is why this is happening here and nowhere else in the region…
