  1. Ford is pausing construction of their battery plant in MI. The GOP there is celebrating since they don’t like the licensing of the Chinese technology. The union says it’s a company threat due to the strike.

Maybe IL can take advantage of the backlash and parlay it into more for our hopefully expanding EV industry.

  2. Bears, Vikings, Panthers and Broncos only remaining teams without a win…….and the Broncos are favored Sunday vs the Bears -3.5

The Sox have 6 games left and are 4 games away from a 100 loss season can they pull it off?

Cubbies hold a 1 game lead and would have the 6th spot if playoffs started today.

Can we please get the Connor Bedard era started??

  3. The Sox are selling tickets for $1 on Thursday, along with free parking. If they would send an Uber to pick me up at my house, I might consider going to the game.

  4. I was going to run some errands, but it is pouring rain, with thunder, so instead I am going to hunker down with a cup of tea, cats, a good book, and Capitol Fax.

  5. I was initially doubtful that it would get off the ground (like many other Springfield project dreams in recent years e.g., the Outlet Mall by Scheels, the Hotel on the site of the old City Parking deck and Club Station bar on 4th and Washington, Public Market downtown).

However, I’m becoming a believer that the Scheels Sports Complex will eventually become a reality. On my way to work this morning there’s more machinery out there than I saw yesterday (and I’m not talking about combines and tractors at a nearby field north of Scheels).

The big question is what will this do to existing sports complexes in the Springfield area (e.g., the UIS softball complex, Spartan Park outside of Chatham). Hopefully they can still stay viable and host events, it would be a shame to see them go empty (although in the case of Spartan Park, if that went belly up due to the sports complex I think it would be a no-brainer for Ball-Chatham School district to by the park and use part of that as additional athletic complexes for the high school, maybe even as a new baseball field for Glenwood HS). Provided that it be renamed “Titan Park” or something that does not have the name of a District 186 mascot a par 4 away from GHS.

  6. I absolutely hate how when it starts to rain a ton of people who otherwise would take public transit decide to take cars instead. It just turns Lake Shore Drive into a parking lot. I spent well over an hour on an “express” bus on Lake Shore Drive barely creeping along in the rain.

  7. Does Rep Jordan have a fundraiser in Chicagoland tonight? Even as a stunt this Chicago hearing seems like a major waste of his time unless he’s double or triple booked other stuff. DC weather isn’t even that summer horrible by late September

  8. We’ve heard from one of our Senators.

    But where is Tammy ?

Senator Duckworth, should your colleague Senator Bob Menendez resign?
