  2. Anderson’s “which way did he go…which way did he go” moment. With Little birdies flying around his head ……

  3. Dreary weather, growing grass, sweetcorn ready, fried green tomatoes, blackberries ripe. Lots and lots of summer.

  4. JRam started the fight, apparently because he has a longstanding feeling that Anderson disrespects the game. Sox win the season series and Cleveland already putting up tweet about when we next meet. they had two players ejected. we just lost TA.

  6. That whole incident summed up this whole year, not just baseball, for Anderson.

It also seems like the clubhouse is as toxic as was feared, now I’m not saying it’s an organizational thing, ownership to manager, manager to players, I’m not gonna say that, again, I’ll let other players describe the culture…

  7. The call on Cleveland radio “Down goes Anderson” was really funny.

My hunch is that Anderson is done as a top-tier player. While still mostly admired by Sox fans, his overall reputation has taken a huge hit. From the New York Times 8/5/23:

“In the midst of a nightmare season in which he’s been, arguably, the least productive hitter in baseball for one of the most unwatchable, disappointing teams in the sport, Anderson squared up and became a baseball-wide punching bag.”

“The knockdown would be a tough look for anyone, let alone a player with a 59 wRC+ (100 is the league average), which is dead last in baseball among qualified hitters”

Full disclosure: I have no idea how wRC+ is calculated, but being last in the league is bad.

  9. Tim Anderson’s baseball problems are not baseball related.

The best thing the ball club could do is on September 1st is allow Anderso to leave the club for the season, straighten out his off the field problems, make peace with his new “normals”, and maybe look at “fall ball” or a winter league stint just on technique, and just come to terms with the idea ball players (like all athletes) are also people.

He didn’t cry when he hit that first home run in nearly a year because he suddenly remembered how to hit for power.

  11. That should say, lots of wonderful rain this weekend in West Central, IL. Now it appears the sun is set to also help the farmers.

  12. Keynan Middleton had some choice words about the White Sox broken culture in a NY interview.

The players can see there is no accountability in the front office so why should there be any on the field?
