  1. Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings once sang, “you don’t go writ in’ hot checks down in Mississippi.”

Well, those checks that landed them in the clank never came close to the heat we are facing outside today. Good grief. May those who work outside and those without a/c be safe or call in sick.

On the positive side, after today, it’s supposed to cool down a bit. Some rain too, if we’re lucky.

I saw that forecast. I especially hope for the rain, in order for the corn crops to fill out. These hybrids today are really good about setting down roots very deep in the soil if need be, but rain is still essential, and at the right time.

I have been trying to help my farmer neighbors by clearing derecho debris from their fields over the past couple weeks. They have enough on their plate right now, just keeping up with the farming routines. I hope all is well with you, ILSIP.

  7. This is state fair weather well in advance of the actual state fair. Not my favorite time of year, but it beats shoveling snow.

  8. Glad S Club are back with new music with their “These Are The Days” song. The Cardinals are reeling this season, and some names could be traded before the deadline.
