I wouldn’t put it past them

* Lots of political land mines are associated with this convention, and this is just one of them…

Hadn’t thought about it before this @Andrefor40th tweet but yeah seems almost inevitable FL & Texas Governors will try to punk the 2024 DNC by sending bunch of unannounced buses of immigrants in weeks leading up to Convention. Sigh. https://t.co/PKFbCBBZ5a

  1. I’d plan on it, but I’d hope it would backfire spectacularly as Dems show compassion and highlight the cruelty.

It’d take some crafty smart comms, but it could be something where it backfires and reminds indies the GOP are the bad guys.

Those who applaud this are “likely” already voting against Dems.

  2. This is Illinois.
    Give em voter registration cards.

  3. This should be all the motivation the Biden administration needs to step up with meaningful support for these refugees. It is unconscionable that we allow them to live in police stations. It is well past time for the federal government to implement a comprehensive solution. They better start today.

  4. OW makes a good point about the potential for such a stunt to backfire.

But I continue to think that hosting the convention offers little potential upside for risks involved. We’d be better off if all the resource spent on luring the DNC were instead used to bring a couple of hardware or realtors conventions to town.

  5. Forewarned should be forearmed. They have a year to plan for this and other MAGA GOP stunts.

  6. I’m sure that political theater has been going on for a long as we’ve been a country- it just wasn’t well publicized. With the 24 hour news cycle and the internet, we seem to have either just begun covering it better or people have taken it to an art form. Meanwhile the rest of us would just like elected officials at all levels from a village up to National to just have our best interests at heart, do their jobs and compromise with others to get stuff done. Yet stunts are all we seem to get because we can’t get sensible people elected.

  7. Let it be known that bus drivers will be arrested and buses confiscated for human trafficking. And then do it.

That may slow things down a bit.

  8. The political theatrics has gone stale…only leaving a bad taste?

  9. “Let it be known that bus drivers will be arrested and buses confiscated” So, your answer to them using people as pawns is to … use people as pawns?
