  1. Got to see a bridge go up downtown for the first time since COVID for a river run yesterday.

    Also seeing the first thing ‘open’ on my walk from Union Station to my office, about the get a Circle K. Went in where Starbucks was pre-pandemic.

  2. The White Sox are unwatchable this season. I can’t believe this team is the finished product of 7 year rebuild.

    Same.

    ===unwatchable this season===

    Just awful. I haven’t yet been to a game, and I’m not sure I will. I can’t even watch a full game on TV this year.

  5. I feel like a bunch of Circle K’s opened in the city recently I’ve seen a few of them in places that I know for a fact weren’t there even a year ago.

  6. Just noticed SCOTUS once again today struck a blow in favor of public corruption with their rulings in the Percoco and Ciminelli cases (overturning convictions against a couple of Gov. Andrew Cuomo cronies).

    I am once again left wondering what loophole or technicality SCOTUS will come up with to get the ComEd convictions tossed on appeal.

  7. Kept thinking yesterday that it was Thursday. Re: the Sox, it certainly is no fun to be demoralized this early in the year as a fan. Pinning improvement and rebuilding hopes on the Bears and Hawks. Bulls also, but they rebuilt with a new coach and GM and aren’t improving beyond barely making the playoffs.

    (In my best Arte Johnson voice) Very interesting. Why Circle K, and why in downtown Chicago? Just yesterday, I was reading about how Circle K was the leading EV charging station in Norway. It didn’t make sense to me why a U.S. gas station convenience store would be expanding in a Nordic country, and a petroleum exporting country at that. Now it makes more sense. Perhaps the Norway charging network was a large-scale pilot project? https://www.circlek.com/ev

  9. I will never get gas at a Circle K ever since they dropped all name brand gas in favor of their own “store blend” starting in late 2018. Basically left BP with only one station in Springfield, took the Mobil brands away from Chatham and at the Auburn exit truck stop, and a lot more mischief state and nationwide. I refuse to get gas from a chain whose focus is more on the convenience stores and less on gas, such as Caseys, Circle K and especially Qik N Ez, don’t trust putting any of their fuel in my tank. Much more comfortable sticking with Shell, Mobil, and to some extent BP.

  10. ==I will never get gas at a Circle K==

    I don’t know what parts of Chicago OneMan above was seeing new Circle Ks popping up, but there’s a good chance that *no one* will be buying gas at those. Certainly not at one near Union Station that used to be a Starbucks. Gas stations take up lots of expensive downtown urban space (and expensive underground tanks). EV charging stations don’t.
