Bailey earlier this month wouldn’t say if he’s vaccinated against COVID-19. “I don’t think that’s anyone’s business to know,” he said. “That’s my personal health. No, you don’t … need to know what’s going on there.”
* Today, however, Darren Bailey is demanding that somebody else fully disclose their personal health details…

Obviously Bailey wants us to infer that Hamlin’s doctors told him it was the vaccine.
But why would Hamlin cover that up? The more likely explanation is that his doctors told him it was football and he won’t admit it because he wants to keep playing.

Zero self-awareness. Zero. Bailey’s vax status was actually relevant to the public since he was a candidate for high office and the vaccine was a question of public health policy, if not THE question at the time. Hamlin is an athlete, an entertainer. His health information, particularly regarding this matter, is of interest to himself, his family, and his employers. Period.

As unlikely as it is that COVID is involved, hat’s more likely? The vaccine caused this? Or it’s after effects of actually having COVD?
I mean, we know that COVID-19 causes myocarditis, which can lead to heart failure and arrhythmias.

The Demar Hamlin conspiracies from the right-wing is despicable. The farthest fringe were insinuating he was dead and actually a body double when he appeared at their playoff game against the Bengals. It feels like they’re disappointed he’s alive and doing well because it busts their shameful conspiracy theories.
Thank God Demar Hamlin is recovering and we all hope he has the opportunity to play football again.

In the final analysis, this is just evidence that candidate Bailey is unqualified to lead our great state. Making a mockery of a person’s serious illness is immoral, and unprofessional.

That someone as stupid as Darren Bailey should offer himself up as candidate for governor of a state is mind boggling to me. How do you get that much baseless self confidence?
Hamlin can’t answer the question right now because his doctors can’t answer it yet because he likely suffered an episode of commodio cortis which can only be confirmed by ruling out numerous other possible causes via bloodwork and other medical problem solving, and if they do confirm it his football career is done, which he may not be ready to admit to himself.

I think Bailey needs to move on to the latest “controversy” - gas stoves. (Is he not getting the memos?)
The science is pretty clear on the negative health effects; so, the Republicans have stepped up to defend everyone’s god-given right to have one.
I do not understand the Republicans on public health issues. They consistently oppose policies that protect public health. Vaccines, guns, gas stoves, women’s health, trans-gender treatment, etc. Folks who study these issues indicate the most responsible actions that will protect life and health and the Republicans adopt the opposite approach as part of their platform.

Republicans are all about inconsistency these days. For example: MAGA believe businesses owners should be allowed to discriminate against gay people (something they are born with and harms nobody) but want to deny business owners the right to discriminate agains those who refuse to get vaccinated (which is a choice that results in hurting others).
I could go on.

I saw the play where Hamlin went down. When he fell back to the ground I figured it was a heart attack. It was similar to mine except I was not playing a contact sport, I had just run 7 miles that morning. I was standing there and just fell out. I wasn’t vaccinated when my infarction occurred, of course it was 2003. I was in excellent physical shape, high strung and mission oriented. Hamlin is a pro athlete, in better physical condition than I was and younger. Things happen for no reason and seemingly from inconsequential things.
Hamlin had blunt force trauma to the chest, that can trigger an infarction. Many have died from such trauma, and those ( according to my cardiologist ) who have good physical conditioning have better chances to survive and recover.
I don’t buy the conspiracy theory of vaccination status for Hamlin, it is irrelevant to the facts.

If you watch the video, it’s pretty clear that “what’s going on” is that the reporter asked Hamlin to think back to a moment that he’s still traumatized by.
But you’d have to think of him as a human being and not some pawn in a great game with people like yourself — the noble antivax warriors! — at the center of it. That doesn’t appear to be in Bailey’s wheelhouse.
