DeVore gonna DeVore

* From an attorney pal: “There’s this little thing called legislative privilege. DeVore would know that if he was a half decent lawyer”…

So today on behalf of our clients, we are sending subpoenas to each of these sponsors of the gun bill. We want to see all text messages, e-mails and documents all of these sponsors have in regard to the bill. Let’s see what they were talking about. pic.twitter.com/ixFpxxWzRa

  1. Grifters gonna grift. Oh wait, that’s what you wrote when you said “DeVore gonna DeVore.”

  3. At some point shouldn’t someone file an ethics complaint on this guy? Did he think he was the first person in the history of the State to come up with this idea?

Then again, look at the number of people who believed Vice President Pence really could control the outcome of the 2020 election through some legal loopholes that existed for over two centuries and went unnoticed all this time.

  5. Barrett Strong, who co-wrote and had the first hit recording of Money, just passed away a few days ago.

  8. =rent free=

He is a grifter so it would have to be rent free.

  9. Just Me 2 is on to something. Federal courts have started hitting Trump and his lawyers with significant fines and sanctions for lawyering like this. Can the state be far behind for DeVore?

    Excellent work.

What is it that Devore has ever actually achieved besides clear ethics violations?

Comment by ArchPundit Wednesday, Feb 1, 23 @ 11:47 pm

  11. I’ll never understand those who use the “rent free” line when talking about public figures who are actively engaged in some matter of importance.

  12. DeVore is the embodiment of the “But he fights” sentiment. The people who give him money like him because he’s fighting, he’s not winning, his fight more closely resembles a temper tantrum, and he weakens the case of those who actually are professionally arguing the case, “BUT HE FIGHTS.”

He’s like a Chihuahua attacking a coyote a lot of noise with little real effect.

It’s disturbing the number of people who cannot tell the difference between a yapping fool and a professional who’s quietly accomplishing the task.

  15. Speaking of “Money” by the Beatles, I read in Rolling Stone the other day that Barrett Strong, who wrote the song and performed it originally, has died at 81. God rest his soul. He really made an impact.

  16. == Federal courts have started hitting Trump and his lawyers with significant fines and sanctions for lawyering like this. Can the state be far behind for DeVore?==

There’s likely a reason that Counselor DeVore is avoiding raising federal questions and is only filing in State court. And it’s probably this.

  18. Not a fan of Mr. Devore, but people hiring him are upset about something and want to go to the courthouse to seek some kind of remedy. The courthouse should be open for them and these group actions allow them to make their case.
Better to have folks going to a courthouse than attacking our Capitol.
If these suits are blatantly ridiculous then let the Judge hearing the case deal with that kind of nonsense.

Comment by Back to the Future Thursday, Feb 2, 23 @ 10:13 am

  19. This is akin to DeVore asking AWAKE-IL to gather up their “members” and getting them to FOIA everything under the sun. They have used this strategy a lot, which is a sad indictment of the conspiracy-minded people who assume the existence of smoking guns.

As some point, some judge needs to challenge Mr. DeVore’s licensure. He is any annoying menace to the common good. He is also a good example of a shyster.

    Comment by H-W Thursday, Feb 2, 23 @ 11:03 am

  20. Do other elected officials - Council, County Board, Mayors, etc., have this ‘Legislative Privilege’ (that part of the Open Meetings Act) requiring those emails, etc, be ‘public records’?
    Oh no.
The ‘open’ applies to everyone else, but not us, that it?

    Sure.

‘National Security’in the State Legislature, surely.
