  3. Here with other caseworkers and managers at the DHS Family Community Resource Center manned and ready. Opened right on time and welcomed the one customer waiting at the door.
    In the snow and slush…
    On crutches…
“Sir, you are one heck of a trooper. If I had half of your motivation…”

Illinoisans can be a hearty bunch.

  4. 2-3 inches of snow but it’s supposed to be in the mid-30s this afternoon. So I’ll go out and shovel for the first time this season.

  5. Had the day off already. We got a new GWP pup on Thanksgiving. I had forgotten how fun that 1st snow is with puppies.

    It’s a good day.

  6. The SIU win over Murray was nice to see. Murray should be sanctioned by the NCAA for the conduct of its players after the loss. Going after fans in the stands is ridiculous.

Oscar loves the snow. I expect to get barked at all day to let him outside to play. lol

  8. Just finished a short walk of my neighborhood cafe. Contrary to all the media and campaign commercials I wasn’t a victim of crime.

He didn’t love that snow around Christmas he still had his initial thin soft puppy coat and thought the temp was too cold. Now that he’s getting his thicker wiry coat I have to drag him in for him to start ringing the bell to go back out.

  10. Ma, the meatloaf - said in my best Wedding Crashers voice. With this snow, it’s a meatloaf kind of day.

  11. SIU Basketball is so fun, my hope is they can move on to tournament time and postseason basketball.

They won’t be an easy out for any team

  12. On Friday, a Streator police officer was attacked by a man wielding a knife, in one of the city’s parks. The officer shot the man under his arm and in the hip.

Suspect was taken to a Peoria hospital, treated, and is in LaSalle County jail. Fortunately the officer was not injured.

This is a park used all year ’round by seniors and neighborhood kids. This incident makes me appreciate our police department even more.

  16. A few inches of wet snow in 60827, temp just above freezing to make the mushy leftovers with water underneath slippery. It’s a salt day post-shoveling. But I’ll take this for January over bitter cold and blizzards.

  17. I know some people like snow but it was nice to have the snow melted off the streets here in Springfield by mid-morning. And most of it on the ground be gone by noon.

Could have been a lot worse. It was the heavy wet variety that causes heart attacks when people shovel it, so a fast melt-off was nice.

  18. Down goes Murray State! Redbirds are next. Robin and I are looking forward to taking in the W Sunday in Normal. Look us up if you plan to be in the maroon section.
