  1. Still amazed that after the stability of the years of Madigan, Pate, Emil, Daniels and Rock, we are seeing legislative leaders changed like light bulbs.

  2. Just saw to my surprise that Schmidt won in the 114th. I predict the Eastern Bloc will gain a member… just play ‘talking point bingo’ with his primary debate:

  3. At give me a break, and I’d argue becoming dimmer, less energy efficient light bulbs.

  4. Paramedics delivered a baby in the SPI at Vets and Jefferson less than an hour ago. Let’s remember how cool (and especially the underpaid paramedics) our first responders are to the public!

  5. turning out the vote in the city’s black wards is an operation. it relies on street money for election day workers, and power brokers who maintain armies of available workers. the operation itself can feel pretty sketch. pritzker doesn’t seem like somebody that likes to get dirty, and definitely not one who wants to put out street money for election day workers. he was able to get this far without engaging in many traditional democratic election get out the vote efforts. he’s a billionaire, and aspires to be president. you’re right in the fax to say that he knew he had the race won against bailey, so he didn’t need to do the work to turn out the black vote. so he didn’t. now he will leave it to the speaker to explain why turnout was down. once pritzker moves on from illinois, democrats will need to relearn how to raise money from somebody other than their benevolent leader pritzker. if republicans can truly pivot to being more inclusive, and can speak to issues without resorting to fear and division, they could make future gains and get out of the super majority.

  7. Are the results in for the 3rd appellate court race? I haven’t been able to find anything on it. It may be that my google research skills suck. It was a race between Brennan and Williams. Thanks.

  8. I just read that Sheehan conceded to Hastings. Not my district but why was this race so close considering the implications of Hastings and no support. Will Hastings be the Dem’s thorn this session? I’m sorry Mr. Miller if broke the news as I’m sure we will see something about this soon.
