  1. Heading up to Lemont for the Midwest Rugby Championships. Four clubs from the Chicago area will be competing (Griffins, Lions Women, Blaze, Riot). It’ll be cold, but so is draft beer inside a warm clubhouse.

  2. Enjoy the 70-degree November today before it all ends tomorrow until June (third time I have said that this fall.

  3. Breakfast with my dad. He’s Navy and I am Army. In the evening, we will enjoy a fine whiskey and off to the Legion for the membership meal. Happy birthday to all the Marine Corps veterans.

  5. Lunch with a friend. And since I’m old and still think of it as Armistice Day, I might re-read Dorothy L. Sayers’ “The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club” and/or Arthur Machen’s “The Bowmen”.

  8. Probably head to the local ceremony. And more yard work.

  9. Local VFW has a Veterans Day ceremony at 10:30 tomorrow. Never miss it, moving to see the color guard made up of old vets from all the service branches lower and then raise the colors.

  10. Well we have the hurricane shutters all closed up around the house again. This time Tropical Storm Nicole and the winds are here. Still so much debris on the street no telling in high winds what’s going to be flying around. I’m happy to see Illinois kept Bailey and DeVore out of office and Collinsville stayed Home Rule. Now I’m ready for the Holiday Season and our couple days of Winter.

  11. As an old retired guy, I like to joke that “every day is Saturday to me”, but it also means that you never have a holiday.

  12. Driving over to Little Dixie to visit the grandkids. Stopping at The Hoof for lunch. Can’t wait to sink my teeth into that ribeye sandwich.

  13. Trip to cemetery.
Election day close to Veteran’s day brings back memories. Remember the first day the Iraqi citizens voted? We saw pictures of them proudly displaying their purple thumbs. My son spent 3 days on top of a school with a belt fed machine gun so they could vote. This year I didn’t even have to stand in line.

  14. I’ll put up the flag (assuming we don’t have gale-force winds in my area with the expected weather change), and think of the vets, knowing freedom isn’t free, even in peacetime, even if you volunteered to serve, and never saw combat. You still served your country, and are a veteran.
