  1. Love the Supreme Court races outcome. That was number 1 for me. Workers Rights amendment’s victory was a close 2nd. Casten’s victory was a big plus too.

    The Red Wave was a wave farewell.

  5. Pollworkers getting into disputes bad enough that the police have to be called? My local pollworkers have always struck me as level-headed, civic-minded generous souls.

  6. Resounding dem victory in illinois almost statewide. Only problem now its any issue or problems with state fall directly on the dems, not excuses,its all on them. The trump and mega excuses wont work on new terms

  7. I’m so pleased to FINALLY have a Democratic Congressperson.

    Comment by KSDinCU Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:16 am

  8. Is that Proft’s way of saying he’s done with Illinois?

    Where’s my fainting couch?

  9. The trib seems to be struggling with how to explain the Dems maintaining their super majority without Madigan. If he’s not pulling the strings, who is?

    Comment by Henry Francis Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:27 am

  10. ==Is that Proft’s way of saying he’s done with Illinois?==

    Situations in which Proft is truly done with Illinois:

    1. he’s stashed enough of Uihlien’s money to not need to run another grift;

    2. Uihlien told him that he needed to actually win something besides a primary;

    3. He’s worried the state board of elections will bring the hammer down and he’s avoiding the jurisdiction to avoid the fine.

    Comment by Anon324 Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:30 am

  11. I read that in the past few weeks there has been a back and forth on Proft’s Wikipedia page where whenever someone edits that he lives in Naples one of his supporters changes it to Chicago and Naples lol.

  13. Have more fun in about to be hit by another hurricane Florida, Dan Proft. Pretty soon you’ll be supporting solar power because jobs and you don’t have power cause of storms. Meanwhile Illinois has fresh water and a more temperate climate. Loving the land of the Blue.

    Comment by Amalia Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:40 am

  14. Florida is right wing central, judging by election results. So, bye to the right wingers who no longer want to live in Illinois. Will any professional doomsayers follow Proft, Griffin and Rauner out the door? IPI, your moving truck awaits. Especially now that the WRA is reported to have passed.

    Having looked at the WRA county/regional results, was very disappointed that many Republicans voted against it. Thought it would do better in red areas. But, shouldn’t be surprised. Many of these folks apparently believe they have to sacrifice their economic power for the “job creators” to invest in them. Republicans and think tanks sure know what they’re doing when it comes to talking points for the GOP base.

    Comment by Grandson of Man Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:42 am

  15. I am not sure what Dan expected to happen. One of the basics of IL statewide politics is that a candidate like Darren Bailey, given his stances, will not do well. The election results seem to confirm this. No snark, but if Dan refuses to acknowledge this, then I am not sure what business he has being a political strategist for Republican candidates in Illinois.

    Comment by Rogo Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:47 am

  16. @Grandson of Man

    Regarding Republicans not supporting the Worker’s Rights amendment, it could be that some/many of them fell for the argument that it was somehow going to raise their property taxes or usher in an era of unions picketing to allow sex offenders into schools. Sad, but in these times, people believe such things too readily.

    Comment by Techie Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 9:48 am

  17. Yes, keep moving to Florida and turn it into a giant GOP vote sink like CA is for the Democratic party. Extremely intelligent folks there. Enjoy the highest property insurance rates in the country.

    Comment by Hot Taeks Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 10:00 am

  18. Great to see Alexi back in Public Service. The Illinois SoS is in good hands. Democrat wins up and down the ticket as well as the win for the workers rights amendment 1. Good night.

  19. Please note that the Highland poll worker story is from Highland, Indiana, not Highland, IL.

    Comment by Anonymusings Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 10:25 am

  20. That was a very impressive speech by JB. He’s really raised his game.

    Comment by Keyrock Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 10:37 am

  21. “Yes, keep moving to Florida”

    And they should follow their own anti-socialism principles: when a hurricane hits, stop taking federal handouts and fix it yourself. Griffin and Rauner are there. Ask them for extra help. /s

    Comment by Grandson of Man Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 10:43 am

  22. Proft probably could have just gotten a contract with the State of Florida to spread that message and saved the Uihleins tens of millions.

    Comment by Ron Burgundy Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 10:56 am

  23. -Please note that the Highland poll worker story is from Highland, Indiana, not Highland, IL.-

    There can only be one. Highland.

  25. ==allow sex offenders into schools==
    Not so sure that would scare Republican voters too much. Mary seemed to have no problem with one driving her around during the campaign.

  26. Eric Sorenson’s win in the 17th CD - an unexpected downstate win - was the biggest sleeper news of the night.

  27. Since you “play by the rules” Dan, will you disclose how much of Mr Uihlein’s $$ went directly to you or your companies?

    Comment by Dirksen Wednesday, Nov 9, 22 @ 12:06 pm

  28. Well done, Ron. Not quite milk through the nose, but close.
