I can’t speak for precinct results since I voted by mail and I’m just doing some canvass reminders for the WRA but early reports outside of IL look like a dismal evening for the Dems outside of IL.

I guess I just missed the afternoon cut off. At 1:30 I was the 679th voter in my small Central Illinois town. Election official said it was about average.

Always be nice and be patient with election judges, they aren’t professionals and on a hectic day they can make mistakes. At my busy Kendall County (Oswego) precinct (205 votes as of 3 p.m.) my son was told he was in the wrong location and had to go three miles away to another spot. My family has been voting at this school location for years, so dad (that’s me) went over to untangle the problem. A patient judge looked up our names and addresses and found we were indeed registered and at the right place. My son went back and voted, followed by my wife and I. No muss or fuss this time.

McHenry redid precincts and a lot of folks were in the wrong spot. They did not do a good job advertising that. I caught the change by accident. First time ever waiting in a line. Took about 30 minutes.

At my polling place this morning they said it was busier than usual and I’ve heard similar reports from Springfield friends.

I voted on the earlier side of the afternoon in the 19th Ward. New polling place for our precinct. I’d say it was steady with most voting booths full but no lines. The set up left something to be desired but no visible problems.

Have a feeling with sun going down in next hour it will get a bit less busy at most polling places unless its a competitive congressional district

High turnout across will combined with higher than 2018 VBM returns and early voting.
Should be a very good evening for the Dems.

Good to hear good experiences in Kendall Country (Oswego).
“Turnout?”
On pace, could be a “tweener” in the end, between POTUS numbers and Off Year numbers, so beating but not off the charts.
We’ll see, but interesting all the same

Been to over half a dozen polls and some how the Bailey campaign has pollwatchers inside every one of them

Line down the block, but I attribute that to (a) everyone in my neighborhood had their (longtime) polling place changed, no doubt many who skipped the primary or voted by mail then went to the old one, and (b) there were only 4 voting booths in this condo building! Cook County really took the unforced L on this one.

Heavier in-person turnout compared to 2018. Not sure if it is WRA, Abortion, 48th Senate District, something else, or combination(s) of the above.

About half the people I helped with registration so far today were simple address updates and the rest were young first time voters or second timers changing from a school address to a local home address. Felt really good to shepherd the new kids into their civic duty and exercise their franchise… They gotta fix everything we broke. The flow here has been strong and steady for hours, and the mood is upbeat with everyone.

My country precintin N Illinois was fairly quite only a couple of other voters when I was there. Staff was very upbeat. I thanked them for their service.

In Yorkville in Kendall County the precinct that votes at the fire station on the northside of town there are currently 50 people in line.

Had an election judge in Lyons Township in Cook who looked like Santa Claus, very jolly fellow. Like JS Mill thanked the judges for their service. Terrible thing that serving as an election judge is equivalent to serving in the military.

Voted late morning at SHG West Campus in Springfield. No line when I picked up my ballot but the room was crowded and I had to look around for a carrel to fill it out.
More crowded than it was in 2020z

I started the day at the polling place expecting some kind of circus but it’s been a completely positive day,no shenanigans, no disruptors here, felt almost like a tailgate party. The experienced poll workers keeping everything smooth and positive: everyone here just wants to make your voting experience easy and pleasant. I had to reach out a few times to the county clerk’s office and they were cool and upbeat and efficient every time, despite what must be toughest day of the year. These people give me hope for the future, that civic pride and altruism survives. Now when do I get paid?

I voted early but on my way home from work I drove by my polling place in Chatham and saw a line inside around 5:20 pm

The two precincts at my polling place are nearing 800 in person voters today. These plus Vote by Mail and Early Voting would be a record for a Midterm Election. We now have three poll watchers waiting for the results for their respective parties.

Voted in a precinct I previously worked in downtown Chicago. At 4:30 I was #220 or so based on ballot reader counts. All booths were filled and people were waiting. Great turnout for this precinct.

Barabbas - Wasn’t thinking so much that both the military and election judges take an oath, but more that with some of the loonies out there some election judges may be putting their lives on the line in their service to our democracy.
