Very steady turnout on the far north side of Chicago. Seems like nearly half the voters are showing up at the wrong precinct.

Lyons Township voting issues with with touch screen at the polling place at The Corral by Lyons Township High School South campus. Precinct judges were making calls to the County Clerk’s office to determine how to fix the issue

I early voted yesterday in McClean county and there was a pretty long line then

Serving as a poll watcher today. Primarily in the city. So far so good.
Only complaints are from voters who are irate about new precinct assignments. In addition to redistricting, the Chicago Board of Elections consolidated many polling places by merging many precincts. Some voters were unaware and turned up at familiar places only to learn that their polling places had been moved.
Signs do not vote, but it is quite unusual to see so many GOP signs in the city. Libertarians put out a few signs, not for a specific candidate, but only asking for voters to support the Libertarian Party.

Voted around 7:30am this morning. Much more traffic than normal at my polling place, which is used for multiple precincts in Springfield.

Bailey sent poll watchers to the east side of Springfield from Jacksonville and Bloomington. They’re causing lots of problems.

Voted in the city in Ward 35, Precinct 13. Touchscreen went down while my wife was voting so I pulled a paper ballot. Extremely potent sharpies bled through sheet one directly into bubbles on sheet two which left me spoiling the first sheet two and getting a new one.
Running like a finely tuned machine over there…

Voted at 9:30 in my small, rural precinct in Stephenson County. Longest line I have ever experienced–three people ahead of me. Judge said that I was the third time they had standing room only. Averaging 10 per hour.

Voted at EIU. As usual, just a handful of people there, and no line at any precinct table. All paper ballots and ballpoint pens. The ballot reader machine would not accept the ballot of the person voting right before me. Election judges conferred and decided to spoil her ballot and have her re-vote. Once that was finished, I stepped up and fed my ballot through the machine, no problem. I even saw the ballot count change to 92 after mine went through.

Interesting, workers for Chuy Garcia are collecting signatures for him to run for Mayor. One worker told me that he is running, then corrected himself say in case he runs.

Voted at 10:00 AM in Springfield, precinct 36. Slow, but steady at the polling place. My ballot was number 185 according to the machine. No problems at all.

We had a fire break out at the southwest corner of the former Jacksonville Developmental Center grounds at 9:30 or so this morning. That particular corner butts up against one of our polling places in South Jacksonville. May cause some disruption there. That precinct usually has decent turnout due to the retirees simply coming downstairs and voting and it’s a mostly residential neighborhood. We got a man on the street checking in on things.
Other than that, we haven’t received any ugly reports of problems, complaints, etc. yet.

Land office business in Dundee Township, northern Kane County. I’ve been poll watching for an hour. There are and have been 50 to 80 people lined up for machines. Everything is running smoothly.

Got to the polling place in Northeast McHenry county at 9:55. Waited 20 minutes in line. There had to be 40 people in front of me. Voting itself was quick and I left just before 10:30.
I usually vote around that time and have never waited this long in 30 years. However, there are now 4 precincts at the polling place rather than 2.

A few issues with voting machines in the NW Suburbs (touch screen systems not working, ballot scanners failing), but only two or three and the County had the issues resolved in fairly short order.
Otherwise, seeing fewer people voting on election day than usual. We had huge lines yesterday at early voting locations so it’s not a big surprise.

Just voted on Springfield’s west side. Good steady stream of people going in; slight wait for booth to fill out ballot.

Voted in Champaign, we have universal sites here. Was in and out in just over 20 minutes due to the WiFi hotspot going down for a bit on them.

Drove past my precinct at 6:15 and the signs had sprouted in the right of way.
I know signs don’t vote. But they were thick.
Sheba and I voted early.

Voted around 7:45 in a small Western Illinois town. I’ve never waited in a line before but had a couple of individuals in front of me. It was probably timing of when we all arrived. Signs for both parties were up which is pretty usual.

My home precinct has a very good turnout. I am also poll watching at a neighboring precinct and they are steady too. Everyone has been in a good mood. I’m a Democrat but the judges from both parties have been friendly and helpful.

Two precincts at my train station in Lake Forest today. Took a late train in. Looks like a pretty good turnout so far. I have a hunch that turn out will be much heavier than expected this year not only in my region, but statewide.

Western Champaign, had line of 20 people in front and 25 when I came out, midmorning. Very unusual. Champaign allows voting in any precinct, so they were printing each ballot, which might have caused some backup. One older lady judge was having particular trouble. Young tech kid judge was a whiz. Forgot to look at the total vote counter so I can’t tell if the total is high.
On another note, every crowd control rope stand inside was prominently labeled “Uline”. Might have to file an electioneering complaint /s

Voted about 10:45 in rural southeast IL. Came in behind food delivery driver with their order. I coughed to alert the first judge away from his word search puzzle book and he asked “You want to vote?” as I was holding my registration card and awaiting instructions. Completed the application to vote and received my ballot. Used the ball point ink pen provided and then my covered ballot to tabulator. The attendant took my privacy shield before it started scanning, so he could see my first page votes (just moved and first time voting in this small county). Except for judges/retention, no Democratic candidates below federal level (including state senator, state rep and county). Was voter #283 out of 900 in my precinct with a steady line of people mainly retirees. Predicting the vast majority of in-person voting here will be done by 4:00 when the sun starts to go down.

In Normal a very low-keyed atmosphere when I went about 20 minutes ago. No waiting and the poll watchers appeared to be looking at their phones. Nothing wrong with this as nothing seemed out of place. I took a paper ballot for whatever reason I don’t know just seemed better.

West Side of Springfield, I was #55 at 8:30am. Traffic was very steady and very busy. Looks like we might see higher turnout.

Voted early two weeks ago in Chicago area, minimal traffic. Family members in college voted by mail, which also worked well. Moral of the story - don’t wait until Election Day, when the craziness surfaces.

Just voted in Northside Chicago. Was voter 266. Have served as an election judge in previous years at a nearby precinct and am usually bored out of my mind so having to wait in line to vote was surprising. Line plus voting took like 30 minutes.

Voted about 10:00 this morning. Was a line of one while five people in front of me were at five check-in spots. No issues while I was there, everyone seemed to be in positive spirits.

Fire is out at the JDC grounds. Polling place at the retirement home was ironically switched to the South Jacksonville Fire Dept. during the primary so no obstruction to voters to report in either Jacksonville or South Jacksonville.

Voted at 11:15 in capital 54 in Springfield. I was number 260. Looked pretty steady crowd wise.

Voted at 10:30, Capitol 22, Springfield Southside. I was number 265 to vote and the polling place was busy at that time, which is unusual.

Steady turnout at my double precinct on Aurora’ West Side. Higher than normal for a mid-term, according to my election judge pal who has been working that location for years. (It was also down-sized from a triple to a double this year.) No hot race locally.
