  1. Does rep. Carroll have a general election opponent? Even before the latest allegations I believed that he lacked the moral character for public service. If any of this most recent story is true, he doesn’t deserve to hold public office.

  2. Much much colder this morning an beautiful DuPage County. Sunny and crisp, as they say about late October.

My favorite time of year, except for the political ads that make watching sports on tv just painful. I’m sick of ads even for the people I’m voting for.

  3. Wish there was a switch I could throw to tell the election robo calls and pollsters that I already voted and to quit calling.

At least the rain quit. And I’m going to the RSEA meeting this afternoon where the topic is the Aetna retiree insurance.

Same. Wish election/campaign season was shorter. But, we should be glad we can still have elections and appreciate them while they last. /s

  6. Got a good offer on my fixer-up house in the 60827 zip code; very close to asking price. Now just need to find one in NW Indiana that I like.
Also, anybody complaining about Justin Fields needs to look at Green Bay’s mess; no pass protection or good consistent receivers, no victories.

How backhandedly Kassian, that lil drop.

    Godspeed.

  8. Cardinals fans, Adam Wainwright is returning next year.

I’ll leave it here without comment.

  9. I can deal with the ads on TV. But I’m exhausted by the texts/emails asking for money. They are so overwhelming they make me less likely continuing to be a small dollar donor.

  10. Happy to see Wainright will be back. Not as happy as the FO is though. Another farewell tour with a bid career milestone on the line sells more tickets and distracts from what is likely to be their unwillingness to spend enough to acquire the talent needed to build a true world series capable team. Meanwhile the smartest fans in baseball will continue to sell out the stadium and eat overpriced, low quality el birdo nachos. But hey, go Cards, right.

  11. MJM signature and name with “Defendant” after the commma, that was something I never thought I would see. Also, kind of disappointed he wasnt able to work in “with kindest personal regards, I remain Sincerely yours” into the waiver. Maybe next time.

  12. Cards lost Skip Schumacher who was named Marlins manager. Good luck to Skip. Big loss for Cards

Comment by Tombrady Wednesday, Oct 26, 22 @ 10:41 am

  13. Forget the ads, just promise we won’t have to hear Bailey’s voice after November 8th.

  14. RNUG, hope you will give us your take on Aetna.

  15. A NYT article on Trump’s backers using the “devil’s terms” stars Illinois own Mary Miller.

Wasn’t as informative as I had hoped, or else I was already informed enough. Didn’t have a real CMS person there; just a replay of their video pitch.

But here’s my take on how it will affect retiree’s … your mileage may vary.

If you were on the United Healthcare Advantage Medicare PPO, the coverage is pretty much the same, out of pickets mostly the same, and the dependent cost (if applicable) goes down to only $2.46 per month for the first dependent. So you will save a bit over $100 a month on premiums.

The bad is that they apparently haven’t reached a deal with Carle Clinic, so Champaign area people are out of luck. This may change, so stay tuned. Also may be an issue with some Macomb providers.

Now if you are on one of the HMO’s, then there will be some changes in payment levels, deductibles, etc. You will get the lower dependent premium, but your out of pocket could be higher, depending on how much you use the health system today.

One key point that was brought out is the hearing aid process will change. Today, UHC browbeats the providers down to their $2,500 benefit even if the aids cost more, and UHC pays them directly. Aetna will require you to purchase the hearing aids up front, and only reimburse you for the $2,500.
