Given the Attorney General’s Office played a key part in negotiating the recent settlement with opioid manufacturers and distributors, will you commit to insuring those settlement funds coming to Illinois will be used for prevention and treatment of addiction issues and not disappear into the black hole of GRF spending.

According to the website of the Illinois Attorney General, one job of the AG is to “Litigate to ensure state and federal laws are followed and respected.” If elected, would you commit to litigating cases to enforce duly-enacted laws even if you do not personally believe they should have been passed? For example, state and federal laws related to public health measures or weapons bans?

  13. How would you use the office to protect consumers from predatory businesses and business practices? I support AG Raoul on abortion and defending the state’s COVID response, but he should have to elaborate an agenda for the rest of the office’s responsibilities too.

  27. Illinoisans want free and fair elections, settled at the ballot box, not in our courts. As AG, how would your office handle frivolous election lawsuits and prosecute insurrection attempts from election deniers? More to the point, would you seek prosecution of those ‘funding’ the storming of our Capitol over an election?

  30. In august, DeVore claimed the Biden student loan forgiveness program was “unconstitutional” and “unfair.” A lawsuit by AG’s from red states was recently dismissed.

    1. Specifically, for both candidates, is the Biden policy constitutional and fair?

    2. Generally, what issues do you expect you might intervene in at the federal level over the next four years?

  32. Illinoisans are always concerned about the influence of money on policy. Governor Pritzker has funneled substantial resources into the Democratic ticket, just as Republican Dan Proft has been a major backer of the Republican ticket.

    Mr. DeVore: can you name a policy issue where you disagree with Dan Proft?

    AG Raoul: During the pandemic your office was plagued by technological issue after a ransomware attack. Today, attorneys from your office still cite to tech issues in requests for deadline extensions in court. If reelected, what steps will you take or continue to build upon to ensure effective operations across your entire office?

    Mr. DeVore: You routinely talk about government waste, spending and mismanagement. If elected, how would you support and manage the Office’s staff and resources in an effective manner? What goals would you set out to achieve related to the office’s infrastructure and staffing levels?

    Some Illinoisans who had Pandemic false/fraudulent unemployment claims made in their name (and reported it to you on your website) say they have still never received even an acknowledgement or resolution from your office. Can you tell us if you are still investigating these crimes and what progress has been made in restitution?

    Well, since that’s not the job of the Attorney General I would say that’s an easy answer.

    Based on some of the suggestions on this thread I would say some of you don’t know the role of the Attorney General.
