With the KS pro-choice referendum results last night, it’s in the IL GOP’s best interest to have Mr. Bailey drop out ASAP. Stop the bleeding.

Apparently I’ve been living in a cave for the past decade. I just discovered Shameless and am binge-watching it. While I didn’t grow up in Chicago, it’s only a slight exaggeration of what my Irish Catholic Sout’ Sider friends described about their upbringing.

Darren Bailey “represents” 56% plus of the voting ILGOP
Bailey is going nowhere, the party imploding as it’s constituted is good for the state and frankly the ILGOP, as Chairman Tracy embraces the likes of Mary Miller, insurrection apologists, conspiracy theorists, and racist thinkers…
… and think on this;
Only Jim Durkin spoke up against Bailey’s words with a sickening comparison to abortion and the Holocaust.
Bailey shouldn’t and won’t resign, Bailey is the party. Let that party face the voters.

But he won’t, and no one can make him. And anyway, someone who has to stand up a whole campaign from scratch, starting in August, with over half the party now spitting blood at them, won’t really do any better.
That being said, yes, absolutely, the KS result should be a klaxon going off for ILGOP. It’s just that they don’t really have any tools to deal with it.

The thing of it is…nationally the Bailey types will consistently get support from areas, that will make it very hard for them to jsut “disappear”

I’ve long thought that Bailey would get the nomination, lose by less than Rauner, and use that loss to argue that the results show a far-right candidate/party is needed for the ILGOP to return to power.

-OW- spot on as usual but let’s not forget that Durkin was all in on the Irvin debacle that brought us to this point. He’s also all over the move to fill every possible open race for the R’s in November to help bring voters out for Bailey. The Illinois GOP is a disgrace and a disaster and should be gutted from top to bottom with party leaders.

The abortion policy aspect changes the playing field, plus Bailey’s own words on abortion are likely not going to help, otherwise Bailey would’ve merely said “I stand by every word”. Bailey didn’t.
Bailey may not be the trend of an overall Illinois voter’s choice, but state after state after state the Trumpkin GOP has candidates like Bailey littering fall GOP tickets

Yes it is. He could have built consensus instead he chose arrogance. He screwed every Republican candidate and the party itself by going it alone. He knew exactly where the party was and the Irvin baggage and the likelihood that others would get involved. If he didn’t it’s malpractice. If he did it’s a fraud This post likely blocked because it goes against Mike Z but it’s fine to start telling the truth/- not making excuses

His candidate finished 3rd. While he might bear some responsibility for Richard Irvin’s loss, he is in no way responsible for Darren Bailey winning. That’s entirely on the voters.

It’s incredible the lengths people will go to in order to make excuses for the grown men and women who vote in republican primaries. How many times do republican voters have to demonstrate that they want ethno-nationalist fascist politics from their politicians before we come to terms with this fact?

I truly hoped that this morning would bring more condemnation of Bailey’s vile remarks, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that that is not the case.

The proponents of the KS pro-life ballot question are taking the exact same approach this morning as many in the ILGOP did after our primary results, in that they are blaming democrats for fooling a huge number of republicans into voting for a certain thing.
I’m not sure if insulting the intelligence of your voters is a good way to motivate your voters to show up in the General Election in November.

I basically agree that Bailey *is* the Republican Party right now, but I can’t help wondering what woulda happened if the Griffin Gang had gotten behind someone who wasn’t such an obvious phony, or if they’d written up a campaign strategy that didn’t basically steer into all of his biggest problems.

Not really when you think about it. The leader of the party has made clear that only losers apologize. It’s a sign of weakness. And for Bailey there seems to be more of an effort to keep his existing supporters than to attract new ones. He doesn’t know how to broaden his appeal because he’s never had to.

So here’s another Dilemma caused by Proft. He helped big time getting Bailey over the top to payback the State GOP for going against his favorite far right candidate Ives. Now that Bailey has stepped on a pile of manure what does he do with his new poster child Keith Pekau? As of yesterday that race is also all but done with Casten with a 83% chance of winning.
When all the dust settles the Dems win big in Illinois and Proft gets 4 more years on the radio and Uihlien money to tell everyone what’s wrong in Illinois. JMO but Proft is getting exactly what he wanted in Illinois

Watching ‘Shameless’ — especially early seasons — remains a guilty pleasure and how it is mostly spot on with its portrayal of Chicago neighborhood life and family dynamics.
