  1. Things heating up in the 75th rep race. Welter may be on the verge of being ousted.

  2. My hometown has had garbage collection temporarily suspended because the weight of the trucks, combined with this ungodly heat, have been damaging the roads.

Just shows the importance of having climate conscious individuals at every level of government. It includes infrastructure, not just energy.

  3. If Irvin can successfully blame Bailey for this excessive heat he might still have a chance…

  4. I wonder if this is the “reassessed” Irvin messaging we’ve heard so much chatter about:

  7. Will be interesting to see how some of the non-gubernatorial statewide races shake out next week. SoS primary will be particularly intriguing for me on both sides of the aisle. Does Rep. Brady actually get a boost because Senator Brady ran statewide so many times?

I moved to the south for work a few years ago, and things aren’t nearly as interesting down here.

  9. Word is that JB is coming out to Riverside for a GOTV for Zalewski - again - today. Not leaving it to chance, I guess…

  10. “If Irvin can successfully blame Bailey for this excessive heat” Wait, I thought it was Pritzker, and if not him then Biden?

  11. Looks like CMS through its My Benefits program is trying to push sleazy rent-to-own ripoffs. Through a company from Atlanta, GA called Purchasing Power. Promising state employees the purchase of electronics and appliances via payroll deductions. I got one of their postcards in the mail yesterday and promptly threw it out. Many complaints to the Better Business Bureau about the “Purchasing Power” company:

  12. The Chicago City Council Finance Committee voted 16 to 15 to raise the 6 mph threshold on speed cameras that has generated an avalanche of tickets and $59 million in additional revenue since Mayor Lightfoot lowered the bar in March 2021.

    https://chicago.suntimes.com/city-hall/2022/6/21/23177687/speed-cameras-threshold-raised-chicago-city-council-finance-committee-vote

This will be a HUGE campaign issue for the Mayor and those City Council members voting to keep the threshold at 6 mph. No police officer gives ANYONE a ticket at 6 mph over the speed limit because safety is not impacted at this level of “speeding.” The City will be lucky if this fight doesn’t destroy their entire speed camera program as the 6 mph speed threshold has done in other municipalities.

When this issue polls off the charts against the 6 mph threshold, legislators with tough General Election races will pile on with State Bills.

  13. =Wait, I thought it was Pritzker, and if not him then Biden?=

Nope, it’s Mike Madigan and the politicians he controls.

  14. Arroyo stuck in the middle of the ballot in his county commissioner race with 4 opponents and a last name in the news recently in a bad way. Will be interesting to see if he has a good enough ground game to carry him to victory in a low turnout election.

Tim Anderson with a rough game last night. SMH over how far he was from first base before he got picked off, especially when there’s a runner on second.

  15. mmmmm Copi. Expect this to appear at the State Fair and Taste of Chicago. description of fish shows it to be very good for you and it’s not a bottom feeder so why was it called carp to start?

  17. Shibboleth - Wednesday, Jun 22, 22 @ 8:56 am: Ref: Garbage truck weight.
My town’s alleys are disintegrating under the weight of garbage trucks and poor construction decades ago; referendum on ballot regarding a tax hike to pay for repairs, in a town that at one point only got 64% or so of property taxes assessed.

    - Jennifer - Wednesday, Jun 22, 22 @ 10:21 am: REF speed enforcement in Chicago: One mph over the limit is enough to write for speeding per Illinois law (625 ILCS 11-601(b)), but in Cook County some cops got chewed out by judges for doing that, so they normally don’t bother for less than 10 over.
