Late news: Rotering back on Supreme Court ballot; Griffin contributes $1 million to HGOP Leader Durkin’s campaign fund

Posted in:

* Press release…

Today, Judge Maureen O. Hannon of the Cook County Circuit Court ruled that Nancy Rotering will be a candidate for Illinois Supreme Court Judge on the June 28, 2022 primary ballot. In response, Rotering released the following statement:

“We are grateful that the Court ruled in our favor today and upheld what we always knew to be true: that our nominating petitions complied with the Election Code. This effort to distract from the real issues that matter to voters was unsuccessful. Fighting for fairness is why I am in this race. We are pleased that the voters will have the opportunity to select me as their Democratic nominee for Illinois Supreme Court Justice nominee on Election Day, June 28.”

* And…

A significant infusion that should put Durkin over $2 million cash on hand, but still not all that close to what House Speaker Chris Welch, D-Hillside, has amassed ($8.1 million in his personal committee, $4.4 million in @DemsforILHouse, per last quarter's D2s). #twill

  1. The million is a down payment.

    If the HGOP becomes something exotic to own, Griffin will put more cash towards it.

    Bruce and Diana Rauner had $50 million and “no #%$&@ problems”. I don’t think the HGOP has that… value… anymore.

    Never sneeze at a million bucks, but Durkin still trails, abortion is gonna play, and what would it been if Griffin dropped $10 million to lead the arms race?

    Yes, I know, it’s the primary… a down payment…

  4. Funny how career politician and republican leader for several years would need a down payment. Just give him the cash as he has already proven he is bought and paid for.

  5. ===down payment…===

    Or an opening bid. Even if he’s the only bidder, he’s still competing with Durkin’s moral conscious, or desire for having some kind of real legacy beyond being a footnote in the history of people whose contributions to the world mattered.

    History needs a heel, and Durkin is sinking to that cause.

  9. Guessin this is a try to lock down Durkie darlings from drifting away from Mr. LetMeFinish before the primary. Some were less that joyed by the spectacle of RichieRich meets the press this week. Team ‘Riffie probably knows they can’t fight bad mouthing in every county in IL.
