  1. Be safe out there.

Vaccines work to reduce infections against BA.2 variant says the NIH, but BA.2 is 50% more infectious than BA.1, which 250% more infectious than Alpha.

So get your booster for sure, and wear your mask in heavily trafficked public spaces would be wise.

  2. Easy to tell the work week has started. Sun is out and temps are rising.

It’s yet another gray and dreary day by me. I’m hoping things will improve as the day goes on, but I’m not hopeful.

  5. “Emma Woodhouse” (@ewoodhouse7) aka Jessica Hockett, she of the cherry-picked data/misinformation campaign about Covid-19, got her account permanently suspended over the weekend for continuing to spread misinformation about Covid-19. The Awake Illinois crowd is having some real feelings about it.

  6. Last night was the 2022 Jean Banchet restaurant awards in Chicago. These awards are given out for Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Best Bar, Best Sommelier, and also Best Heritage Restaurant, Best Neighborhood Restaurant, Best Alternative Dining, you get the picture.

It was nice to celebrate the hope that restaurants and bars are back after some tough sledding. The state law allowing cocktails to go was mentioned a few times as helping some to hang on through it. It was a good night.

  7. Leap Day William, perhaps she will have more time in her day. I deleted my Twitter account the day Musk bought it (it’s one thing to use a network owned by a board and shareholders it felt weird to use something privately owned by an individual.) There was a couple of days adjustment, but I have discovered more time in the day for other pursuits.

  8. Had my first sighting of a yard sign in the governor’s race yesterday. For Rabine.

  9. I saw Gary Rabine at Walmart yesterday. I knew it was him because only he would wear a Gary Rabine t-shirt.
He was walking in circles, talking into his phone. Part of me wondered if anyone was on the other end of that line.

  10. Talk to your teens about drug use and fentanyl.

This weekend a teen in my neighborhood had to have his car window smashed open and dragged out of his car after having a fentanyl overdose in his driveway. He was given six doses of Narcan before he “woke” up.

If you don’t think that kinda thing happens where you live you are tragically wrong.

  11. Here in NW Lake county around Antioch and Fox Lake area Rabine signs have been up for months.

  12. Happy Monday everybody.
Light gray overcast, but no rain (South Burb of Chi.)
Sports: Bears realize how badly they need to rebuild, even if they won’t say the “r-word”.
Politics: It’s an election year; break out the Tylenol.
