Bailey claims he talked with Trump, promises more details “in the coming days”

Posted in:

* Darren Bailey to his Facebook followers this morning

As you know, we’ll talk more about this in the coming days, Cindy and I were blessed with many others to be able to go to Mar-a-Lago two days ago to support Mary Miller for Congress and we had a pretty amazing conversation with President Trump. So we’ll be sharing some more details of that in the coming days.

That’s the very first time he’s publicly mentioned the Trump conversation since he was in Florida. Odd.

  2. I wonder if the former guy could pick Bailey out of a line up. I’m sure they spoke, I just doubt he’s important enough for the former guy to remember him.

  3. Under promise, over deliver…

It does feel like a statement to create a buzz because Bailey has been so silent about the trip up till then.

I’m of a belief (my speculation) that Rabine and his history with “the family” is a factor where Trump might be in all this.

Then again, if Rabine had a Trump ear, any of them, why hasn’t there been anything to that either?

  5. “Dear Sir, Darren Bailey here. It is an extraordinary pleasure to meet you, sir.”

    “Yes, yes”

“I’m a huge fan. Say, I’m with Mary Miller and I’m running for Governor to Make Illinois Great Again. Sir, it would be the highest honor to have your endorsement, if I may.”

    “Who are you?”

  6. ===… were blessed with many others…===

Make NO mistake, Trumpkins are in a cult.

  7. Sounds like bupkis to me. No Trump endorsement, no nomination for Bailey. I think it’s that simple at this point.

  8. It’s very odd, but given how fakakta Bailey’s comms shop is, it could mean anything, including nothing.

  9. In about two weeks…

It will probably happen at the same time Darren will unveil his infrastructure plan.

  12. @Chuck

You’re on it. Just add “a lot of people are saying…” and it’s quintessential Trump.

  13. Trump is the Republican frontrunner for 2024, according to a recent poll. Is there a reason other GOP candidates are not attending his events or seeking his support? He’s popular with the base and very active politically, doing rallies and endorsing major candidates.

Who among the GOP is a proud patriot, willing to proclaim their vote or support for Trump?

Comment by Grandson of Man Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 9:38 am

  14. I think the sun has set on Bailey’s campaign. I expect that the most we’ll get is that the former President is in his corner without actually hearing that from the man himself.

Comment by Pundent Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 9:50 am

  15. They haven’t had any hundred-pickup-truck parade around the courthouse square here in Louisville complete with honking horns, Trump flags flying, and led by firetrucks, so I guess it is safe to say no endorsement for Darren right now at least. I’ll be sure to post if a parade happens anytime soon.

  16. If Trump endorsed Bailey there would be no reason to sit on it. Time’s wasting. Trump probably expressed his general support for the Republican nominee in Nov. Bailey can then tell his followers “Trump’s behind us!”. He has to save face somehow.

Comment by Independent Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 10:13 am

  17. Count on Bailey to make more out of it than it really is. In true trump style.

  18. Is Gen Flynn talking to Tbird?

  19. ==If Trump endorsed Bailey there would be no reason to sit on it.==

Rationally, no, but that’s not how Trump operates. We know that Trump had decided to endorse Dr. Oz and JD Vance long before the official announcements were made.

  20. When I read Bailey’s “teaser” it reminded me of the TV News stories presented as:

“Breaking News - Shocking allegations against XXXX that could upend the election. We’ll provide details in our six-part series presented over the next two weeks, starting tomorrow.”

Comment by Downstate Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 11:23 am

  23. Oh well, I guess Darren and Cindy got a nice trip to Mar-A-Lago out of it with the bill going to the campaign, even if he didn’t get the coveted blessing.

  25. Trump’s M.O. is to support people he sees on TV. If you’re not a TV “star”, you’re nobody to him.

  26. “Trump’s M.O. is to support people he sees on TV.”

You are completely correct. It would have been worth the risk for Bailey to do an ad buy in the DC market a few weeks before his trip.

It wouldn’t be the first time a TV commercial running in a large metro area had an intended audience of one. It happens far more often than people think, and it was happening long before the guy I’m not going to name came around.
