  1. So far just rain and flooding but we’re bracing for the worst of it.

  2. Hunkered down waiting for the snow to start. My mail already arrived this morning, the postal worker was practically jogging. I’m sure they wanted to get as much done as possible before the weather hits.

  3. I will now spend the rest of today flashing back to high school keggers in a friend’s basement and/or a field outside of town.

  4. MAURICE ?? AS in “Evans”??? LOL

  5. I’ve always preferred to be called Gangster of Love.

WGN had a report on the least educated counties in Illinois. I guess it explains how fools like Bailey and Devore become folk heroes in certain places. But I was really blown away at some of the figures.

  6. Henry Francis-

Thanks for the article. I was wincing as I scrolled down, looking for Union. Pleasantly surprised.

  7. O.K. So……where’s the snow?

  8. I’m guessing many of the younger people who earn bachelor’s degrees in the rural counties end up moving out right after earning them. The job opportunities for degree holders are elsewhere.

  9. Almost all of the snow in my yard has melted. Just waiting for the reload to start.

  10. In our neck of the woods, southern Sangamon, no rain or snow as of yet. Winds are gusting though.

  11. Was just listening to tunes from that era this morning, Joni Mitchell’s Help Me, and Rikki Don’t Lose That Number, also Carole King.

Nothing happening yet in terms of snowfall. Thankfully this year, a lot of melting has occurred, to make room for whatever big snow comes next.

  12. Montose- Lake Siemer by chance?

Comment by TheShoes Thursday, Feb 17, 22 @ 9:08 am

  13. TheShoes - My fields were in Iowa, but I have a hunch the scene was very similar.

Comment by Montrose Thursday, Feb 17, 22 @ 9:10 am

  14. It’s windy here and all of what was on the ground is gone except for clumps on the parkways where people dug their cars out from the last snow. Its windy though.

I had to go into the Loop yesterday for a meeting and all three of the Chicago shows were filming. There were police/fire/ambulance vehicles everywhere. Also lots of craft services trucks and crew wandering around or I would have thought something large and bad was actually happening.

  15. I see what you did there…

  16. Henry Francis,

What struck me was the volatility of the median income. It’s really not bad in places like Douglas, Cass or Moultrie. Now the mean might show a different story, but still this is interesting. I have not observed that degree of volatility in the other salaries (some college etc.)

  17. Easter eggs are dropping early… :)

Hope everyone is well, February is a ruthless month, it packs its misery in few days with a greater intensity.

It was nice to see UIC having the chance to participate in Horizon League postseason “things”, it’s not the athlete’s fault.

Looking forward, too, with UIC in the Valley, it’s a great fit for both.

  18. Henry Francis,

What i meant was the median income of the less than a high school diploma. That one was all over the map with a wide swatch. The other medians were more clustered around each other.

  23. Writing in today’s Illinois Times, Bill Edley does not sound enthusiastic about Nikki Budzinski’s run for the 13th. Edley is a former Democratic state rep from the Macomb area who now lives in Springfield.

    https://www.illinoistimes.com/springfield/the-mysterious-13th-district-candidate/Content?oid=14744611

He’s openly wondering why she didn’t run to replace Bustos in the updated 17th: “Why did Chicago Democrats draw a heavily gerrymandered 13th Congressional District by increasing minority population, and then decide to fly in a non-minority Peoria native (Peoria is not in the 13th), who had been working and living in Washington, D.C., and had never voted in either the old or new 13th Congressional District?”

  24. I’m sitting in the Channel 3 ActionNews SnowCommand Center waiting for something to happen in the South Suburbs of Chicago (which other news stations thinks stretches to Kankakee and Naperville, bless their hearts).
In other news, Thornton Township’s board meeting Feb. 17, likely to appoint a replacement for the late township and Dem leader Frank Zuccarelli, has been cancelled due to an unexpected death, according to the Township website.

  25. Let’s be careful out there. Just read report of an ISP trooper (who is OK) hit by a semi about I-55 mm 104-105; that would be around the Sherman exit.
