* I am having one of “those” mornings. Not fun. Could be worse, though. I could be getting dragged all over the Internet for losing a football game…

Unlike the Packers offense, we know vaccines are still effective in the winter.

  1. I thought it was funny. You know, because Aaron Rodgers is a slime ball. Not just because he lost a football game.

Comment by Ducky LaMoore Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 8:56 am

  2. Great post. A dig at the packers and a vax PSA.

  3. Good comment by the Gov.
He put a smile on my face this morning.

  4. Funny, but has some “I remember there was a great play, when Ron Santos just jumped… and caught a line drive.” energy to it.

Comment by TradedUpForMitch Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:03 am

  5. Rodgers looked and acted like he would rather be anywhere else than that football field.

    Comment by Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:07 am

  6. Well, at least Rodgers isn’t a long-hauler. But those were exciting games yesterday.

Comment by PublicServant Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:10 am

  7. JB throwing fire and I am 100% here for it.

Comment by Commisar Gritty Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:12 am

  8. This is what we’ve come to. (I’m guilty as charged too) We get our most enjoyable football watching in by hate-watching our nemesis.

    Comment by ddp76 Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:13 am

  9. ===hate-watching our nemesis===

Yesterday’s night game was so scary good. It’s like the Bears play in an entirely different NFL than those teams.

Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:22 am

  10. “ We get our most enjoyable football watching in by hate-watching our nemesis.”

As a lifelong Bears fan, let me say that it is not the most enjoyable. It is usually all we have. And right now, it is everything.

Comment by Ducky LaMoore Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:22 am

  11. once again, to think the Bears could have had Mahomes….

Comment by Amalia Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:23 am

  12. It warms my heart on this chilly January morning that the Packers are out. Happy Monday.

Comment by Peanut Gallery Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:25 am

  13. Packers, Pats, and Brady all out = good. Rams did their job yesterday, but now they and Kroenke can go too. That way I will have a very nice non-hate watching Super Bowl.

Comment by Ron Burgundy Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:31 am

  14. tip of the cap to JB. that’s a good one. what goes around….

Comment by Blue Dog Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:31 am

  15. “We get our most enjoyable football”

Gotta find enjoyment somewhere when our team is bad.

Saw a funny cartoon dig on Aaron Rodgers types who think they’re health experts on the pandemic, as opposed to medical professionals. It showed someone with a shocked face in the doctor’s office when told the school cafeteria server would perform the medical procedure, or something like that.

Comment by Grandson of Man Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:36 am

  16. =It’s like the Bears play in an entirely different NFL than those teams.=

They are in an entirely different NFL, the one that ended after week 18. Kills me, but I did enjoy the erin rogers futility and the packers losing.

Last night’s game though? That was something to watch.

Comment by JS Mill Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:45 am

  17. Amalia - You can take solace in the fact that had the Bears taken Mahomes, he would not have become Mahomes, and the team would still not have been successful. This is a totally inept organization

Comment by Captain Obvious Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:49 am

  18. Oops. That was me at 9:49

Comment by Bruce( no not him) Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:49 am

  19. ===Bears could have had Mahomes===

    They woulda just ruined him.

Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:50 am

  20. “an entirely different NFL”

The NFC North and East are garbage divisions where above .500 will guarantee the championship…

Where you will then be exposed in the playoffs.

    Comment by Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:51 am

  21. ===Oops. That was me===

    Oops. I already deleted it.

Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 9:54 am

  22. Nice dig at the Pack by the Gov. But he should also do a dig at the Bears and the McCaskeys for their longtime preference of losing or mediocrity at best for the Bears. And say if the Bears don’t get the coaching and GM search right he will threaten to buy out the McCaskeys and own the Bears after he’s Governor.

Comment by NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 10:02 am

  23. ==The NFC North and East are garbage divisions==

Don’t tell that about the East to Joe Buck, he thinks that division is all that matters in the NFL. Same with Yankees and Red Sox in MLB.

Comment by NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 10:03 am

  24. The packers should reply, at least we made it to the winter.

Comment by Unionman Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 10:04 am

  25. Great quip! Made me chuckle.

  28. That former Bear Robbie Gould ended the Packers season at Lambeau Field…priceless.

  29. Surprised TheDickButkus on Twitter wasn’t called for taunting.

Comment by Excessively Rabid Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 10:41 am

  30. The big dream Amilia is that the Bears would have gone and got the best tight end and great receivers for Mahomes.

Comment by Lurker Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 10:54 am

  31. @Lurker, oh for a Kelce. or a Gronk. and given that Nagy was the OC for the Chiefs, I guess we assumed that he was a QB guru. Guess that is actually the Chiefs QB coach, Mike Kafka.

Comment by Amalia Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 11:11 am

  32. any Bills fans out there? wondering how those folks are doing today. as a neutral that game end was head spinning. for a partisan who lost, it must be devastating.

Comment by Amalia Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 11:12 am

  33. On a non-football note, kudos to Bill Foster and Chuy Garcia signing the bipartisan letter calling on House leaders of both parties to support the ban on stock trading/ownership.

Would be great if every Illinois member of Congress could get on board.

Comment by hisgirlfriday Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 11:43 am

  34. “once again, to think the Bears could have had Mahomes…. ” Patrick Mahomes with the Bears’ O-Line would have been a grease spot on the 15 yard line.

  36. Just found out Grain Belt Express in coming through our county. I am all for cleaner energy but why do they put it above ground? Burying the line would make more sense. On the fence.

Comment by Mister Ed Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 1:40 pm

  37. I’m not a Bills fan per se but was rooting for them against the Chiefs since I get tired of seeing the same team going all the way so many years in a row. It was certainly disappointing but not surprising or “devastating.” There was a lot of chat about changing OT rules on Twitter even from Chiefs fans. Now I’m hoping Joe Burrow can knock the Chiefs out just like Bobby Boucher (also #9) took the Mud Dogs to the Bourbon Bowl in Adam Sandler’s The Waterboy, but I am not going to put money on it. Betting against Mahomes usually does not pay.

  38. Great line from an AP story about playoff QBs in reference to Rodgers:
“this was his first playoff loss in the Moderna era”

Comment by Suburbanon Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 1:54 pm

  39. ==any Bills fans out there? wondering how those folks are doing today. as a neutral that game end was head spinning. for a partisan who lost, it must be devastating.==

I am a Bills fan of 30+ years, and honestly, it was the Bills fan experience in a nutshell. And while most of the conversation going around is about the NFL’s overtime rules, there’s no way it should have ever gotten to that point when the “best” defense in the league couldn’t stop the Chiefs from getting in field goal range with 13 seconds remaining.

Just a new and different way to break our hearts.

  40. “===Bears could have had Mahomes===

    They woulda just ruined him.”

Truth. And Trubisky would have led the Chiefs to, wait for it, no Super Bowls. Google ‘Best North Carolina Quarterbacks’ to see what I mean.

Comment by Proud Sucker Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 3:00 pm

  41. Anyone have more info on IRTA lawsuit about CMS underfunding insurance for retirees? I can’t believe we are back in court again. Why can’t those in state offices honor the contractual and constitutional obligations of the state and stop weaseling around. It is disheartening and maddening.

Comment by Tired Teacher Monday, Jan 24, 22 @ 4:11 pm

  42. @TheAardvark, condolences on the loss. break a table anyway. it will ease the pain.
