Illinois’ best college basketball program, the Loyola Ramblers, has moved from the Missouri Valley Conference (The Valley) to the Atlantic 10 Conference (A10).

Bad news for The Valley, but probably better news for Loyola as the A10 might have multiple teams make the tourney and year after year The Valley seemingly gets lesser respect with fewer opportunities outside the conference champs.

It had been fun seeing the Illinois schools play each other in conference play, and losing Loyola will be tough, but good on them.

Just patiently waiting for a decision in Wisconsin. I have served on a jury and I know these deliberations can be tedious.

More folks on the train this morning, found out from a pal that closer to the ‘front’ where he sits, it is now often 2 people to a seat. Also noticing more folks leaving their noses uncovered with the masks.

As an added bonus Metra eliminated 6 or 8 trains a day (early morning, late night) in order to help with the supply chain issues.

Thanks for the heads up about that Willy, didn’t see that this morning. I’m happy for the Ramblers but I agree that having so many Illinois schools together made watching conference games, especially since Bradley and Loyola faced off for the crown so many times.

Personally I’m a advocate for Loyola Marymount, Loyola University Chicago, Loyola University Maryland, and Loyola University New Orleans to be in the same conference. Whoever wins is the real Loyola for the year.

Tough beat for Bishop Paprocki yesterday - he lost a USCCB election for chairman of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development 125-116. I wonder if this defeat will lead him to reconsidering his tactics? j/k

I used to feel that way, until I watch allegedly good college teams go minutes on end with out a field goal.

Make sure you watch the Bulls this year; very entertaining, score lots of points, flashy fun players. Glad a pro basketball team is back in the state of Illinois

Actually any of those towns that have a Loyola could make it a fun thing.

The poaching of The Valley has been tough to watch, heck, Loyola filled a hole from another school leaving. Hopefully it works out for both sides here, Loyola will have a better path going forward, that’s for sure.

Piquing interest in whether the “dark money” bill will reduce overall contributions or illuminate the darkness of the money a bit more. I foresee an increase in PACs and some really jagged connections of where the money is coming from. New rules don’t always beget compliance, rather increases workload for those who never intend to comply.

I really enjoyed the few years Loyola was in the Missouri Valley before Wichita State left (I have been a Wheat Shockers since before I was born). I would take my sons to see the WSU-Loyola game in Loyola’s great small stadium every year. Good luck to them!

The Loyola/Bradley games were always good to see. Lot’s of Bradley and Loyola graduates are going to be disappointed.

Heck if Loyola University of Congo and Loyola Andalucia (which fun fact it does a student exchange with Loyola Chicago) had teams we could get a 6 team tournament going.

All eyes are on Coach Valentine for sure, so far so good. They had a good close game against Florida Gulf Coast University but the real test I think will be Michigan State the day before thanksgiving.

I think a probation time is needed. Maybe the first offense you get a personal demonstration from someone who has been trained by a good science teacher on why you need to wear your mask this way and how to do so. I think a lot of people just don’t know.

And posters in the train showing proper usage.

In the wilds of Facebook, I see so many people cheering for Rittenhouse. If you honestly believe he acted in self-defense, I can see maybe having some sympathy for him, or maybe sorrow. But cheering for him? It almost feels like fans of a football team cheering for one of their players when he makes a big hit on the opposing quarterback, and it’s ruled a legal hit. Is that what we’ve come to? Cheering when one of your guys scores a lethal-but-legal hit on an opponent?

but Norwood Park and 38th Ward Democrats announced at about 10:30 p.m. that they’re endorsing Alexi Giannoulias for Illinois secretary of state, Tom Dart for another term as Cook County sheriff and Kari Steele for Cook County assessor — a surprise given she’s a South Sider competing against incumbent Fritz Kaegi. Official slating is Dec. 13 and 14.

This Rittenhouse trial is bugging me a bit. I find the protesting by both/either sides to be a bit disturbing. We expect Justice to be fair but we protest outcomes we dislike. It’s hard not to see that as attempting to sway the Jury whose job is to impartiality judge the evidence and arguments not attempt to prevent civil unrest. It’s impossible to stop and we shouldn’t infringe on people’s 1st amendment right to speak but I find it concerning.

A surgeon is doing nothing of the sort, they are preventing the contamination of the sterile field in the OR by preventing droplets from mouth/nose to wound. Bacteria, not viruses.

The FDA has been corrupted since at least the 1970s when Statin drugs were approved for use. They have repeatedly ignored Petitions by doctors and scientists they are suppose to acknowledge within a time frame. RIP Dr. Kumerow (UIUC) who actually had to sue the FDA to remove transfats from they American diet. It was a 15 year process just to remove a poison from our diet. This finally occurred in July 2018. Of course the European
Union and and other countries had no problem doing this years early. We have the best government money can buy. If you know someone who died of a stroke or heart attack I imagine you can at least partially blame the trans fat industry. I am looking forward to the ten year studies in 2030 which will estimate the lives saved.

Regarding masks on trains…A mask can be very protective when one is riding the Red Line.

In case of a stabbing, a mask can work like a bandaid and stop the bleeding. Masks are good.

Congratulations to Manny Diaz on his ascension within the Chuy organization. Manny is always a great and kind person to chat with and is quite the subtle powerhouse. He’s been around for some time and has been a great asset to Ortiz. One of the hardest working, sharpest guys in that organization.

- Original Rambler - I have an interesting story about the Personal Code … many years ago my mom had what was supposed to be a review / upgrade / promotion go sideways and end up as a downgrade. She asked me what she should do. I advised her to fight it and hire an expert on the code. Guess who she found? Needless to say, they won the case and she got the upgrade.
