Promote products and crops produced here. Also, emphasize the amazing infrastructure and high-tech intellectual resources of the state.

The Glenkinchie distillery is a nice drive from Glasgow. And their distillery docent’s holding forth on how it’s a “Breakfast Scotch” was delightful….

Agree with Donnie Elgin on his ideas.
We have a lot to be proud of here in the State of Illinois.
We should use every platform we can to let people know about the opportunities doing business in and with Illinois farmers, tech companies, financial institutions and manufacturers companies that our state has.
As for not wearing a kilt, don’t you know everyone looks better in a Kilt.
I would stay away from the Haggis.

Aggressively and unabashedly promote Illinois. Especially EV and Tech.

Buy Trump’s golf courses in Aberdeen and Turnberry and then donate them back to the communities.

Be yourself, the governor is a good guy doing good things for Illinois. Share that with the Scots.

Since he’s there discussing climate change might as well promote the fact that comparatively speaking Illinois is less climate change/natural disaster prone than other states. We don’t have hurricanes or forest fires, we have plenty of water and away from rivers flooding isn’t a major concern. Might as well talk up the advantages we have.

@ MyTwoCents = yes we have less climate change/natural disasters than other states. Illinois doesn’t have hurricanes or forest fires as of yet. Many rural communities have witnessed more flooding than you are aware of. Rural infrastructure is in dire need of repair, from city sewer systems, lead pipes, water resources, and list goes on and on. Some areas of Illinois have plenty of water as of now, however a lot of it is contaminated with dissolved solids, PFOAs, PFOs, high nitrate rates, E.coli, manure, sediment, mine subsidence issues and contamination, toxic chemicals dumped into it by industry, coal ash, run-off, etc. We need stronger regulation and increased fines to protect our resources and our planet. If industries pollute they should pay for the clean it up and compensate communities and citizens, not the taxpayer. Many industries get tax payer subsidies, property tax breaks, etc. Yes Illinois has a lot to offer, especially green energy, but it has a lot of work to do to make our resources available, more sustainable, and healthier for the next generations. Environmental and Public Health agencies need the tools and staffing to back Illinois citizens and resources, not the corporations. Like they were originally intended to do. Thank goodness many environmental groups are stepping up to the plate or Illinois tourism will be loss as well. Illinois is an unparalleled paradise, said no one ever. But talking up our good points seems like a no-brainer, especially for a governor.

He should discuss food. Particularly our corn and soy as this is a huge reason why IL is a global player.

He should also talk about health and the importance of eating IL food food products.
