*** UPDATED x1 *** Rewriting history

Posted in:

* Oh, please…

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s rise to the top tier of American politics looked inevitable. But then he fell. Hard. This is a story about purpose and power and the search for redemption when you lose both. Watch #BeingBlago November 5 on @Hulu. pic.twitter.com/WeHFN4A5FR

  2. Redemption, they keep on using that word but I’m not sure they know what it means.

But I guess “search for redemption” does not mean it has been found.

  3. It’s a close one-two…

The new Madigan podcast and this Rod rehabilitation…

    Which is… less needed.

  4. and the Mell lab where he was created?

Comment by Amalia Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 11:55 am

  5. Being Blago? I would have called it “Should’a visited my relatives in Serbia’, but that’s just me.

Comment by PublicServant Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 11:56 am

  6. So, this is the payoff for Chuck Goudie turning into Rod’s personal valet?

Comment by Roadrager Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 11:59 am

  7. Bootleg Tiger King

Comment by Melido Perez Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:01 pm

  8. “search for redemption”

Keep searching. I suppose people are still searching for Bigfoot too.

Comment by Ron Burgundy Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:10 pm

  9. Play the rest of the tapes.

Comment by DuPage Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:12 pm

  10. Amalia, correct. He was a product of one of the top ward machines. I wonder if that is mentioned /s

Comment by James the Intolerant Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:12 pm

  11. I haven’t listened to it yet, but does the phrase “Oh Look, A Kitty” appear anywhere in the podcast? What about when he said the F word in front of “Cubs.” (Or was that Patti)

Comment by NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:12 pm

  12. ==He was a product of one of the top ward machines.==

He was also a product of one of the top Elvis fan clubs.

Comment by NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:14 pm

  13. The only one who thought their rise to the “top tier” was inevitable was Blago

Comment by Nick Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:16 pm

  14. Pretty sad that it appears ABC News went way harder on Real Housewife Erika Jayne in their previous Hulu doc (The Housewife and the Hustler) than they are on Blago.

Comment by hisgirlfriday Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:19 pm

  15. This makes me miss Judy Barr Topinka even more! She was the real deal and Blago a cheap imitation.

Comment by Nearly Normal Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:23 pm

  16. Hmm, posts about satan and blagojevich on the same day.
    Coincidence? Related?

Comment by Bruce( no not him) Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:30 pm

  17. To find redemption one must actually believe in the need to redeem oneself and admit wrong doing. Blogo has not done that. And, neither has Mrs. Blago, who was prominently featured in the phone recordings, for that matter.

    Hard pass.

Comment by JS Mill Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:36 pm

  18. Rod, you really should do someplace else other than ABC or Hulu if you are searching for redemption.

Comment by West Side the Best Side Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:45 pm

  19. Melido Perez @12:01 pm….you made me laugh. Thanks

Comment by Anonymous Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:48 pm

  20. Aren’t there enough craven and corrupt politicians out there for ABC 7 to report on rather than dragging up this embarrassment.

Comment by Norseman Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:54 pm

  21. Where’s Milan Petrovic? It’s all about fundraising and where’s mine.

Blago could be the Cevapi King of Chicago. He’s missed his calling. A perfect job for a convicted ex-governor.

    Comment by Rudy’s teeth Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:55 pm

  22. Speaking of Blagojevich…never ever mind.

Comment by Dotnonymous Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:56 pm

  23. Take our former Governor…Please.

Comment by Dotnonymous Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 12:57 pm

  24. Meh, the dude has to make money somehow if he wants to continue living in his mansion. I think he should go be an Uber/Lyft driver.

    Comment by Just Me 2 Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 1:01 pm

  25. “I think he should go be an Uber/Lyft driver”. God, no. Can you imagine the danger of that…..having people jumping out of the vehicle screaming, with their hands covering their ears…a traffic hazard of gigantic proportions.

Comment by Sayitaintso Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 1:09 pm

  26. ==Can you imagine the danger of that…..having people jumping out of the vehicle screaming,==

Don’t forget he would have Elvis on full blast on the radio.

Comment by NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 1:17 pm

  27. =if he wants to continue living in his mansion=

Blago is a terrible person, but you don’t need to spread misinformation to make him look worse, he does that on his own. Dude lives in a bungalo - it’s nice and an expensive bungalo, but it’s still just a bungalo

Comment by Joe Bidenopolous Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 1:21 pm

  28. This is a remake. The original had a much better cast including Andy Griffith and Walter Matthau.

Comment by Give Us Barabbas Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 1:30 pm

  29. amazing Blagoof only get 28 pings on a rainy Friday. Pretty sad turnout. Someone should wake up Sun Times fact checker for this one.
BTW whatever happened to the BGA podcast?

Comment by Annonin' Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 2:12 pm

  30. Remind me, how many pardon requests did this man seeking redemption take action on while in office?

Comment by Grimlock Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 2:15 pm

  31. Isn’t it a little too early to rewrite Blago history?

    Comment by Chicago 20 Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 2:21 pm

  32. Ebeneezer Scrooge is a redemption story worthy of watching year after year. Blago…not so much. Hard pass.

Comment by Skeptic Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 2:29 pm

  33. Our “Madman” style media culture would attempt to rehabilitate Charles Manson…if there were two bucks to be made?
