  1. Somewhere right now Mike Shildt is thinking about how he will end Mo’s STL career.

  2. When will the BGA be called out for the right wing Neoliberal organization that it is?

  3. There’s a local news story this morning about a school district with about 1200 kids who do not have their regular vaccinations. Not the covid vaccination, but the polio, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and DPT (diptheria, pertussis and tetanus) vaccinations.

I imagine there are similar numbers in most districts around the state.

Covid might have been the easy outbreak, if this isn’t resolved soon.

  4. Very curious about the possibility of new judicial subcircuits in counties with more than 150,000 voters.

Looks like the smallest county this population cut-off would affect is McLean, which voted for both Biden and Durbin in 2020 but only ever has any competition for judge races in the GOP primary.

  5. It is so discouraging to see my Alderman talking about the problem of not having police on the streets (which is a disconcerting) instead of sending the message that people should get vaccinated.

As a Cub fan, I thought Shildt was a very good manager & MAJOR upgrade over Matheny. I don’t understand the move.

  10. It never fails to amaze me how many people are able to be co-opted to serve the economic interests of others against their own economic interests. Hiring Tom DeVore to get a TRO is the same sort of deal.

What many fail to understand is that DeVore is filing the same case in every school district in order to enrich himself. (200 districts at $5,000 per case = $1M). However, only one such case is necessary to test whether an executive order can be found unconstitutional. All the other cases are superfluous. The other 199 must eventually be declared moot cases.

Yet local citizens across the state, with limited knowledge of the legal system, are giving their money to a single lawyer, making him an instant millionaire. Crazy.

When people cannot see the big picture, it is easy to blind them to the foolishness of their ways, and profit from it.

  12. Good morning.

I noticed a couple people asking when Mike Kasper was hired as city attorney for Calumet City but now I can’t locate the post where this was talked about. It was during a regular city council meeting May 13, 2021, so was one of Thaddeus Jones’ first acts as mayor.

  13. What I don’t understand about DeVore is he is constantly saying it’s about the law. He’s doing all this work because of the law. Not because of the Governor. He represents these parents, students, teachers and healthcare workers because of the law.

Then why did the DeVore nonprofit pay for two of the lawsuits against two school districts? I don’t know if that’s about the law there.

  19. Thanks for the info Red. Sounds like DeVore is Judge shopping now. I’m sure he’ll have another Facebook Live full of excuses and that he’s just laying the groundwork for a bigger case.

  20. Lots of controversy over whether it was or wasn’t a check swing on the final pitch last night. Aren’t check swing calls always highly subjective? Seems to be a bit overblown to suggest that the game somehow turned on the last pitch of the 27th out. We likely did see the two best playoff teams go down to the wire yesterday as they did all season long.

  21. ==Wondering whether we’ll get to see a Miller-Bost primary fight this Summer.==

That would be fun. However, I don’t think a Democrat can win that seat, which was held by Paul Simon and Glenn Poshard in the not too distant past.

  22. jeez, headline for City of Chicago new Streets and San boss is that they want to add a 5 or 10 cent deposit on all bottles and cans. this is a drag on business. how about they pay people to recycle? as in if you recycle your home waste, you can get a tax break or coupons for local business sent to you? I don’t want to drive into the city and pay a tax on cans and bottles.
