I wish the Governor could make DuPage County States Attorney Bob Berlin or someone competent like him the Cook County States Attorney. It wouldn’t solve the whole crime problem but it certainly would help.

==why would the Senate be considering== my guess would be that it is to increase sports book revenues. Currently to bet with a mobile sportsbook you have to register in person at a casino. That is hard for some people to access especially until the new casinos are built. It also affects people visiting Illinois and out of towners.

And then there are state employees. I have not had a pay raise in more than 7 years. Indeed, I had a “give back” in order to protect jobs. I do not anticipate a pay raise this coming year either.

Costs of living over the past 10 years have increased by about 22% (according to my teachers union, anyway), but my salary has remained flat.

Kinda sucks.

The Bears really need to beat the Packers this Sunday. It’s been embarrassing for a long time, losing so much to the number one rival and foe. A win could be the start of a new trend. But the Packers are very good year in and year out, so expectations are reduced.

I was not against sports betting being legalized but I really do not care for all the nonstop advertising of such an addictive and potentially ruinous activity.

You cannot watch sports any more without being bombarded with gambling ads every single commercial break and as a parent who wants to watch sports with my family I do not like having to explain what gambling is to an impressionable child every ten minutes.

If TPTB made it so we can’t have ads promoting cigarettes (for the children) why are we OK with this vice being rammed down our throats through commercials?

Calumet City Clerk Nyota Figgs filed a complaint yesterday alleging the mayor, Thaddeus Jones, has been interfering with her ability to do her job and creating a hostile work environment in the city hall.

A large portion of Clerk Figgs’ allegations appear to be backed up by emails.

Clerk Figgs is not the first city clerk whose office has been attacked and usurped, and it won’t be the last. But this suit is perhaps particularly noteworthy for the state-level connections at play: Mayor Jones is also Rep. Jones, and he recently hired Rep. Rita Mayfield as a $5,000 per month building and code consultant; Rep. Mayfield has reportedly participated in the mayor/rep’s smear campaign against Clerk Figgs via social media. Also it will be interesting to see whether Mayor Jones obtains outside counsel to defend himself against the allegations, since the city attorney is ShawnTe M. Raines, who is married to Mayor/Rep. Jones’ close associate and Speaker of the House Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch.

Following up on the FOP/Chicago/vaccine mandate discussion from yesterday, I’m told the City has now offered the additional personal day to sworn CPD members if they are fully vaccinated by tomorrow. (Previously it was offered to all City employees except sworn CPD members.) Perhaps that’s a sign that the issue will soon be settled (An issue that shouldn’t have been an issue at all. Get vaccinated. Report it to the City. Not that complicated…)

Yea, I had an out-of-state family member that wanted me to register. I would have to drive down to East St. Louis. If I could have done it remotely I would have. With the current in-person requirement, I couldn’t find a weekend to get to East St. Louis before the cut off.

it’s crazy but I’m still tired from Sunday in person, and the Tuesday watching from afar Sox games. perhaps it’s like attending a funeral, tired from grief. and staying up to watch the Sky in overtime. Bears Packers is gonna pile on that.

CTU is now publicly supporting the “vax hesitant.” To me that is the same as anti-vax. CTU now bears responsibility for Covid deaths and illnesses, as well as the societal harm that comes from mitigation measures (including making kids wear masks). CTU claims to support both teachers and students - the reality is that they do neither.
