  1. Not a Sox fan, but I was quietly rooting for them against the Astros. Great season; see you next year.

  2. You would think that the death of Dean Angelo would knock some sense into Catanzara’s head. But no. Now he’s telling FOP members not to comply with the reporting mandate: https://chicago.suntimes.com/city-hall/2021/10/12/22723581/coronavirus-vaccine-mandate-chicago-police-union-fop-mayor-court-catanzara-lightfoot

  3. FOP President encourages officers to ignore Covid test reporting on the same day his predecessor dies *checks notes* of COVID.

  4. I hope the police understand I would be loathe to call 911 because I don’t want to be exposed to the disease or to their attitude towards *this* vaccine. It’s not as if they haven’t gotten vaccinated against other stuff before now.

  5. Great minds, JoanP.

  6. Sorry for the Sox losing so badly. Clearly we are not yet ready to beat the better teams but are in a place to take the next steps to get there.

  11. Astros v RedSox in the ALCS? I’m rooting for the NL team in the WS.

  12. Sad about the Sox. More than last year. One person told me that this is because we were at the park this year. Makes sense. Tough sledding in the last few weeks, lots of injuries, wish they had gotten home field. But Sunday was truly amazing, glad I was there.

  13. =Astros v RedSox in the ALCS?=

The worst. I’d root for the bleeping Dodgers over either of those teams. But I probably wouldn’t even watch.

Chins up Sox fans. Your team is still ascending and they play fun baseball.

  15. Congratulations to the White Sox and White Sox fans, an incredible season, so much to take from it.

While the series outcome wasn’t what the team or fans wanted, for sure, what is good is that the series was decisive, and no wondering “what if”. Out-managed, out-hit, out-pitched, not slamming, but it’s good because where y’all fell short, those things can change and the arrow is pointing way up at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Think about it, it was bad enough with “Bartman” on the other side of town and that mental angst. The Sox can really push forward and be a ball club that will go deeper and deeper in the playoffs.

I actually kept forgetting the Brewers were in the playoffs… now they’re gone. The Braves find ways to win. Boston seems to overwhelm and take over ball games, seemingly like the Astros in that approach.

The best series has been Dodgers-Giants. There something different about that west coast baseball…

It will be fun next season watching from afar the White Sox build of this incredible success with a core group locked in for the foreseeable future. It’s a step, the Sox are still climbing.

  17. Watched my local school board meeting last night.

    A few observations.

There were more than three times the number of people watching online than there were at the meeting in person.

One person had to be asked to leave for refusing to wear a mask.

One person used their public comment time to sing the star spangled banner while draped in a large american flag.

  19. Not sure what happened to the arms? Definitely weaker toward the last 2-3 weeks of the season and in the playoffs. Bats were quiet for 2 games but the pitching was brutal! Cease had an aweosome 1st inning and so did Rodon yesterday but control issues did them in.
Let’s find a SP to replace Dallas. And LH power RF

  20. It was a nice October day to be at the ballpark yesterday.
(Trying to think positive. Other than that it was pretty painful.)

  21. Feeling sorry for the Sox, happy for William Shatner (fun stuff we really need), and anxious for the Deere workers.

Comment by Dog Lover Wednesday, Oct 13, 21 @ 11:07 am

  22. Thank you White Sox for an entertaining year. I just realized a benefit of watching from home was I didn’t have replay the game in my mind and second guess management during the long drive home to to the western suburbs. It’s bad enough during the regular season.

Comment by Fishingvest Wednesday, Oct 13, 21 @ 11:28 am

  23. SMH over all the 0-2 pitches in the strike zone that the Astros took advantage of. But it was a great season and looking forward to next year. And ditto on the disgust for the ALCS. I don’t like any of the team’s left.

I’ll echo the Go Sky comment. They have been fun to watch as they play a true team game.

  24. I saw a lot of complacency from the Sox in the second half of the season. Once it became clear at the break that they wouldn’t be challenged for the AL Central title they took their foot of the gas. They essentially played .500 ball the rest of the way and below that on the road. They were never able to turn it on going into the stretch and it showed against the Astros. Still a good season but it showed me that it’s not just about winning the Central and getting to the playoffs. Good teams play the whole season and peak in September.

  25. Welcome to space, William Shatner. May the Great Bird of the Galaxy (the late Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek) smile upon you today, as you go boldly where so few have gone before.

  26. The ALCS puts the lie to the old saying “cheaters never prosper”. I’ll happily root for the Dodgers in the WS if they make it and hope my old buddy Albert hits a walk off, series winning homer…
