So my Huskies got a million dollars to go beat Georgia Tech,
U of I paid UTSA 1.1 million to come to Champaign and beat them.
Just an FYI U of I I am sure NIU would be more than happy to come down and beat you for a lot less that 1.1 million.

a friend lost his wife over the weekend due to ICU shortages (southern Illinois) caused by those refusing to be vaccinated. She didn;t die from COVID and so her death will be uncounted collateral damage along with countless others

Was reading the minutes from a local county board committee meeting, which took place in August.
It appears my county health department director was spewing a bunch of xenophobic nonsense about immigrants and disease, before the committee chair had to forcefully put a stop to the conversation.
It disappoints me how local news reporting has completely failed in covering this.

Schools are now being pinched by litigation for following the governors orders. Some have moved to remote and the ISBE (the governor) want them open.
You will see a number of schools implementing adaptive pauses as the number of kids coming up positive for covid continues to rise. Schools are in a no win situation here.

Cabs are back on the streets of Chicago.
A recent trip to work (about 9 blocks) was over $21 using UBER plus tip. The same trip using a Cab was $6. Tipping the Cabbie $5 saved Back $10.
I appreciate the fact that UBER drivers are hard working folks, but something is wrong with the pricing.
The lesson for Chicagoland (imho) is dump UBER and support our local Cabbies.

Since 2007 Illini football has been two steps forward, three steps back. The program hasn’t been consistently good since the White and Mackovic days. It’s strange when you look north and see Wisconsin is consistently ranked but the Illini haven’t been able to crack the code.

@Friendly Bob Adams, UTSA is a really good Group of 5 team. In fact many G5 teams got overlooked this past weekend. Illinois just got beat, period. Plus, let’s give the Illini some time. This is Bielema’s second game. I’m guessing the fanbase was expecting an undefeated season?

Was in Overland Park, KS in late July. Uber ride to a restaurant was $21.82. From the restaurant back to the hotel was $13.64. Still trying to figure that out. Won’t be a Uber passenger again anytime soon.

Traffic on the expressways into and out of Chicago in the mornings is the worst it has ever been. I would hazard to guess it is not construction-related, but COVID-related. I believe people don’t want to get on public transportation (especially the CTA, maybe less so Metra). Between the overwhelming weed smell, uncertainty about vaccination status of fellow riders, and the increased muggings, can’t say that I blame them. I the depth of knowledge some here might have on how to right this, but I can’t imagine how public transportation survives with such limited revenue. Please get vaccinated.

Maybe thinking the daughter should have gone to NIU. It’s only 20 miles from the house and, apparently, some of my GaTech money has already made it to DeKalb. Also, looking at the Yellow Jacket’s recent past (Heisman was 110 years ago) I’m questioning why they are in a power five conference. Ego I suppose.
