  3. We spent the last two weeks in states that do NOT take the covid crisis seriously. At all. The only people whom we saw wearing masks were immediate family members.

    It was a bizarro nightmare.

We stopped at the grocery store on the way home and it was such a relief to see everyone just going about their business while wearing masks and not making a big issue out of it.

tl;dr- it’s good to be home.

  5. May the Sox feast on the lowly Royals this weekend.

As per a comment above, I was out and about and saw many people cooperating by wearing masks, very unlike the anti-mask states. Isn’t it evidence that masks work, when the anti-mask states and regions are bearing the worst of the Delta surge? Certain people are trying to sow doubt about masks’ effectiveness.

  13. This was announced last night. But if approved by City Council, Lakeisha Purchase will be moving from trustee of the beleaguered Capital Township to new Ward 5 alderwoman. Replacing Andrew Proctor. Langfelder announced his nomination yesterday.

The article below mentions of all people, Sam Cahnman (despite his past behavior in light of the MeToo movement) also applied for his old job.

  18. David Ross and Jed Hoyer have tested positive for Covid. Fortunately both are vaccinated. And while the there will be those that ignorantly claim, “see the vaccine doesn’t work” they’re missing the much larger picture. Both Ross and Hoyer appear to be asymptomatic. It’s only through testing that the positive result was revealed, not the onset of symptoms (which the vaccine does a really good job of preventing). Unlike MLB, most of us who are vaccinated have no reason to be tested on a regular basis so we’ll likely never know if we were positive. But Covid is being transmitted by and among the vaccinated population albeit with minimal to no symptoms. And in that environment the unvaccinated will continue to be at an increased risk and not be as fortunate as Ross and Hoyer are.

    Get your shots.
