Please listen to Rep. Tim Butler

Posted in:

* WMAY

A local lawmaker is taking some of his colleagues to task over their refusal to say whether they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Republican Representative Tim Butler says it’s important for people in public positions to share the message that the vaccine is safe and effective, and is the fastest way to bring the pandemic to an end once and for all.

Butler says vaccine misinformation remains a problem, but he says the medical and public health professionals who are encouraging vaccination do not have an agenda other than trying to keep people healthy.

  1. Just one of the many voices of reason from the GOP; he stands as a nice contrast to the Eastern Bloc narrative. Great job Representative Butler.

  2. It Will be interesting to see if his GOP colleagues in NW Illinois districts take it to heart! Too afraid to set their fan clubs on fire listening to science and health care professionals. Is there an epidemiologist that serves in the House?

  3. Congratulations to Rep Butler.

    We need more like him.

  4. Kudos to Rep Butler. Far too many republicans are more worried about losing votes than losing lives.

  5. “many voices of reason from the GOP”

As former republican, I don’t see many voices of reason in today’s GOP. Rather, I see many voices of inanity in the GOP. There are very few voices of reason, and they are being censured and rejected by the party majority. And I’m an old, angry (at republicans and conservatives pushing nonsense), white guy.

  6. Thank you, Rep. Butler. Demonization and denial of COVID doctors and scientists, done by some Republicans for political gain, has to be challenged from within.

  7. =Just one of the many voices of reason from the GOP=

Just one voice of reason from the GOP.

    I fixed it for you.

    But good on Rep. Butler.

ALL of our state reps and senators should be VERY LOUDLY saying exactly what Rep Butler is saying. ALL.

  8. ===Just one of the many voices of reason from the GOP===

You need to give warning with snark like that.

If Butler was one of many, this wouldn’t be a significant thing.

    Also, good on Butler.

  12. Good on Tim this time, but I still can’t wait until he’s gone. Back in the day, if Bruce Rauner told him to say vaccines and masks are bad, that’s what he’d be saying.

  13. Representative Tim Butler, thank you for saying, “the medical and public health professionals who are encouraging vaccination do not have an agenda other than trying to keep people healthy.”

Please keep saying it until the other republicans listen to you and start promoting “vaccinations saves lives”. We are all in this together.
