  1. After 3 days of school, we have 2 positive teachers and 5 positive students, and this is with masks. We also don’t have all staff positions filled.

All the more reason that ISBE should reconsider their stance against remote learning as the primary source of schooling for this school year. Until at least kids 12 and under become eligible for vaccines.

Yep. Old statisitics don’t apply to Delta. It’s a whole new level of dangerous infectiousness. Thanks anti-vaxxers. And a shout out to you anti-maskers while I’m at it. Society appreciates it. /s

  4. Statewide, we’re having more new cases and a comparable number of deaths as we did a year ago. Science said we needed to cancel fairs, concerts, sports and do remote learning a year ago. Funny how science changes when it’s politically unpopular.

  5. Putting aside last Thursday afternoon and evening thunderstorms, I can’t remember a recent State Fair with a run of great weather like this year’s. They have taken the rain out of the forecast for the rest of the fair so it looks like dry weather till the fair is over.

  6. Birds on the Bat, what has changed since last August? You remember this little thing called a vaccine?

You’re a clown troll. Also, hospitalizations started rising last October and the toll was devastating come November.

  7. Glad the A’s pitcher will be okay and has his vision. That was pretty darn scary.

  8. I’m beyond frustrated with the anti-vaxers. Guy on the news yesterday complaining that he doesn’t want his kid to get vaccinated, and doesn’t want to do weekly testing (because it is too inconvenient), but still thinks his kid should be able to play soccer where he can spread his germs without care. That’s now how this works, that’s not how any of this works.

  9. Is anyone else out there having issues with the child tax credit payments? I opted out, but my wife got the payment via paper check in July. So she opted out. Now, I’ve gotten an August payment direct deposit and it is a completely bizarre amount money. I really wish they would have made you opt in instead of having to opt out if you wanted the money early.

  10. It feels so strange to see the families and kids out waiting for the school bus once again. It’s like an episode of the Twilight Zone. I hope it’s one with the happy-ending but I fear it will be unhappy with a moral at the end.

  11. Saw one lone person at State Fair Tuesday wearing a Bailey for Gov t-shirt.

Child Tax Credit - Agree, should have been opt in. We get it mailed even though they have our bank info. We didn’t bother to change it, didn’t want additional issues.

  12. “episode of the Twilight Zone”

Imagine a world where all you had to do was wear a simple piece of cloth to protect you and others.
Now, imagine that piece of cloth would become a line in the sand for millions, claiming individual freedoms over the wellfare of the many.

    You’re in the Twilight Zone.

  13. truly wondering about the Western US, the fire, and air quality. it affects us here in Chicago…that hazy sky…but imagine if you live in Colorado, up high, and with bad air especially if you have any lung conditions. this is all terrifying.

  14. President Biden just announced that vaccine boosters for Pfizer and Moderna will be available for all Americans starting Sept. 20. (Of course, likely the similar order of people getting it, such as healthcare workers and emergency personnel before it goes to the general public).

  15. “Our buddy” Ken Griffin is in the news. His company owns millions in Regeneron shares, a drug DeSantis is pushing in Florida. Griffin gave millions of dollars to a DeSantis PAC.

That’s some smarts right there: don’t prevent illness with mask and vaccine mandates, but act only after people get sick.

You left out that Griffin gave money to Desantis prior to covid too, but that doesn’t fit your narrative.

    Oh.

You think it’s better, after giving millions to DeSantis that Griffin continues to give… and supports a governor who doesn’t want masks and isn’t at all serious about the pandemic.

If anything, it’s on brand, which is far worse, LOL

  19. Is anybody else having issues with IDES website? Wife is trying to certify and keeps getting Access Denied message. I know the IDES just updated the website but couldn’t find any news about problems.
