That’s up from eight a week ago. But St. Clair has reversed its trend.

  1. It’s so sad. Children are now ending up in the hospital with COVID. Nearly every death from COVID now is preventable. With enough people vaccinated, young children are protected. Get vaccinated.

  2. We’re going to be back on daily updates before August is through. This is all so easily preventable, and so many people have decided to let a deadly virus spread and mutate because their TV shows and social feeds have told them doing so will actually make them winners.

  3. Major news outlets are running stories of breakthrough infections. As there are so many people refusing to get vaccinated, this info is not helpful in the context of vaccines’ effectiveness. Vaccines are shown to be very effective in preventing hospitalization and death, even from the Delta variant. The unvaccinated are getting hammered. This is what needs to be drummed up by news media.

  4. When Darren Bailey is tooling around in the ‘ole campaign bus, why not encourage COVID-19 vaccines for those who are at his meet and greets.

Certainly there are facilities that could be repurposed to provide this valuable medical service while he’s smiling, taking pictures, and posting to social media.

  5. =As there are so many people refusing to get vaccinated, this info is not helpful in the context of vaccines’ effectiveness.=

I’m not sure that it discourages people inasmuch as it validates what they’re already predisposed to believe. If you had real concerns they can be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. But if all you’re looking to do is justify why you won’t get a shot, breakthrough infections are just one more thing to add to the list.

  6. Decided to take a spin on the restore.illinois.gov site and look at regional positivity metrics, something I haven’t even thought about checking since I got vaccinated a few months ago.

Region 4 (Metro East) is at a positivity rate (7.6%) that Chicago hasn’t seen since January.

  7. Not a single one of these counties surprises me.

  8. Grandson, you and everyone else who crows about this are just wasting time. Some people, no matter how much preach, just aren’t going to get vaxed. I agree that it is crazy but that’s the way. I am afraid that this crisis is going to be around for a long time.

  9. GT - We were always going to lose those folks. But its the otherwise normal minded parents and grandparents and others who have been brainwashed by the Tucker Carlson’s of the world are who we have to fight for.

  11. July 4th fireworks and parties.

We’ve reached the limit of adults who will get vaccinated until the number of people dying increase. Probably not far off on the teenagers too. I wish that wasn’t true. I have unvaccinated friends and relatives that I worry about every day.

  12. Race to the bottom. Rest of Eastern bloc is falling behind.

  13. Illinois is right next to Missouri and a wee bit away from Tennessee and not so far from Arkansas, three pits of Covid doom. Get vaccinated….you vaccinate kids for all sorts of things, right? Remember, even if you are vaccinated, you might spread the virus. It is still time to mask up in lots of situations. Target or the Jewels, just put on a damn mask. The virus wants to mutate…don’t help it do that. VAX and Mask.

  14. ==Rest of Eastern bloc is falling behind.==

But the Western Bloc is jumping straight ahead (Hancock, McDonough, Cass, Morgan, Mason).
