Today’s quotable

The Chicago-based Franklin News Foundation, sometimes characterized as ideological by its critics, oversees the Illinois Radio Network and The Center Square reporting service. Both entities act as traditional news outlets, a status that puts them on equal footing with more established news outlets like The Chicago Tribune.

  2. If The Onion and Wikipedia merged you’d find this ridiculousness in the “alternative facts” portion of recognizing “media outlets”

    Until facts and honesty to facts, figures, and policy are recognized as the political propaganda that those two “outlets” push, they are no different then those who make up news then find a way to disguise the falsehoods.

    It’s cute, I’ll say that.

  4. The Franklin News Foundation is not nearly as legitimate a news source as Pravda.

  5. ==Both entities ‘act’ as traditional news outlets … .=

    Using that word rather loosely …

  6. Oswego Willy, does that not indeed put them on an equal footing with the Chicago Tribune.

  7. ===does that not indeed put them on an equal footing with the Chicago Tribune.===

    The Editorial Board, sure.

    If you wanna disparage some incredible reporters and writers like Ray Long or Rick Pearson and the nearly dozen of folks who cover city hall, the state, governing, that’s quite lazy and exactly like Statehouse Chick and Kass who seemingly don’t read the newspaper but try to bring victimhood to relevance or phony narratives to a discussion.

    How’s that?

  10. “the IPI also is a free-market think tank that promotes policy solutions frequently described as conservative.”

    LOl, some of their policy solutions (like on pensions) are frequently described as illegal by the ISC.

  11. I personally place Capitol Fax on equal footing with the Washington Post.

  12. ==How’s that? ==
    Fair enough. I must confess that I’m biased by my father’s story of nearly a hundred year’s now of Trib bias against blue collar workers.

  13. === Washington Post===

    … winner of 69 Pulitzer Prizes, forced the resignation of a sitting President.

    I know, I know, your mouth breathing is that “Amazon-Bezos” drivel my in law uncle married to my favorite aunt peddles while touting Qanon, OAN and Sean Hannity.

    On zoom he’s muted, he just doesn’t realize it.

    :)

    I’m sad that I have to explain this:
    I wasn’t taking a shot at the Post, I was jokingly complimenting Rich.

  18. “[Does] that not indeed put them on an equal footing with the Chicago Tribune”

    The Illinois Radio Network and The Center Square aren’t fit to hold the door for the likes of Megan Crepeau.

  21. =Did I do that right?=

    Well, you are a heck of a lot closer to Voltaire than IPI is to any legit news.

  22. The phrase “sometimes characterized” is doing a lot of work there.

  23. The Chicago-based Franklin News Foundation, sometimes characterized as ideological by anyone who can read, oversees the Illinois Radio Network and The Center Square reporting service. Both entities act as traditional news outlets, a status that puts them on equal footing with more established news outlets like The Champaign News-Gazette.

    Fixed it for ya.

    These outlets really harken back to an era where controlling the media to advance your partisan interests was all done out in the open.
