    Plain speak when possible is always best.

    Sometimes spin is worse than arguing and answering to the merits. Don’t be too cute.

  5. Avoid using “fair” in front of any contentious issue in an effort to make it seem non-contentious. (See Fair Tax, Fair Maps.) Those are ready examples of being too cute.
