Keep it local (except for sports) and be polite to each other (except for sports). Thanks.

  1. The Chiefs were up 3 points, and then out of nowhere, the Bucs scored a lot of points. I don’t think the Chiefs should be awarded the trophy until every LEGAL point has been counted. Many fans are upset. Josh Hawley, please investigate. I need to hide in my basement now to avoid these Referee Inc space lasers that have been floating around here lately, so ttyl.

  2. Couple of Hail Mary attempts would be trading Pace/Nagy for Desean Watson or Carson Wentz. Shoot, why not make Aaron Rodgers an offer?

  6. That was a brutal last night

  7. Patrick Mahomes looking for a receiver

Comment by CapnCrunch Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 7:30 am

  8. That is a funny tweet on the Bears’ futility in finding a franchise quarterback. But Walter Payton’s influence is seen in many games, whenever a runner or receiver running with the ball stiff-arms a defender.

The ageless one was terrific yesterday, as was his team. Many insulted him. Brady insults are bad, m’kay? He is arguably the GOAT.

  9. “The Bears looking for a franchise quarterback.” Again.

Comment by Not the Dude Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 8:09 am

  10. Did not care who won, but as far as football entertainment went - the sloppy game by KC and the uneven officiating made it not a fun game to watch.

Comment by Siriusly Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 8:23 am

  11. Weekend rumor was Bears getting Carson Wentz for #1 draft pick, Tarik Cohen, and Nick Foles. Suspect Philly wants/can get more, but the deal above would be ok by me.

Comment by lake county democrat Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 8:29 am

  12. Knowing the Bears, they think Drake From State Farm would be equivalent to Rodgers and not The Weeknd.

  14. So the Illini have either figured something out and could make a deep run in March, or the team that could hardly beat a NIT Indiana team, will crush our dreams.

If they find a third scorer, they could be really dangerous in March.

Comment by Give Me A Break Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 9:05 am

  15. Halftime show was a bust, not the worst I’ve seen, but was underwhelming. Two observations about the game; Brady looked vintage Brady last night and Mahomes needs his starting Tackles.

Comment by AnonymousFool Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 9:17 am

  16. For most, success in the NFL is fleeting especially for quarterbacks. Just ask RG III, Carson Wentz, and Mark Sanchez the list is almost endless. That is what makes Brady’s career so incredible. Until the second half of his career I thought his success was mostly a product of the system he was in. The second half of his career taught me otherwise and last night sealed the deal. It isn’t just his play but what he does to elevate those around him. Brady is the best that has ever played the game. 7 super bowl wins is just insane.

Oh, and the Bears beat him this year. Insane.

  17. The halftime show was great and entertaining.

  19. -If they find a third scorer, they could be really dangerous in March.-

Frazier and Miller are the obvious choices, but they sit at the 3 point line too much.

Comment by Ron Burgundy Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 9:41 am

  20. Whelp, Put me on the list as another victim of an illegitimate claim for IDES benefits. Received four separate letters, one which included the ATM card to be activated in the mail on Saturday. Totally fake claim, supposedly laid off by a fake company. Reported to IDES and our local police department. Cut up and photographed the ATM card. Will be contacting state senator and rep later today. Then sit back and wait for the other shoe to drop. Identity theft is very scary business. Meanwhile, people who are trying to file legit claims with IDES are suffering due to the system being clogged with fake claims. We need more updates on this situation from the governors office.

Comment by Responsa Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 9:43 am

  21. JS Mill - an astute, thoughtful and accurate response. Now if NFL teams could figure out how to draft for Brady’s capabilities - even the most sophisticated intelligence systems - artificial or otherwise - cannot do it.

  26. ==You guys remember that time the Bears could have hired Bruce Arians and instead went with Marc ****ing Trestman?==

Or had McCaskey not messed up the attempt to hire Dave McGinnis in 1999 (right after Wanny’s firing). Before settling upon Jauron.

  27. The halftime show sucked.

Comment by Dotnonymous Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:13 am

  28. Prince’s halftime show is the best ever.

U2’s after 9/11 is second… the rest are as we’d like to see them.

Last night’s will likely be forgotten, less the fans of The Weeknd.

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:15 am

  29. Two years ago was the hideous Maroon 5 performance. Last night was the incomprehensible Weeknd show. It makes me appreciate how outstanding Shakira was last year.

Comment by Independent Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:21 am

  30. The State of Illinois might have two college basketball teams in the top 25 this week. Probably been a while since that happened. Maybe back when the Salukis had a good run 15 years ago or so?

Comment by fs Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:22 am

  31. The Bucs lines ate them up both sides of the ball. The difference wasn’t in the QBs.

Comment by walker Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:26 am

  32. Jim Cornelison should be the only National Anthem singer ever. Always mute the performer/artist and go to YouTube for his version.

    Comment by Rudy’s teeth Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:27 am

  33. === The difference wasn’t in the QBs.===

I’d say the turf toe that Mahomes had slowed him and effected his mobility.

Between losing the tackles *and* the toe, Mahomes was hampered.

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:30 am

  34. Not usually a big fan of The Weeknd, but thought last night’s show was really really good. The hall of mirrors thing was a cool bit. The whole thing felt cohesive in ways past medleys never do. I’d say Prince was my favorite. Katie Perry, Maroon 5, and Shakira have been some recent lowlights for me.

My 6 year old also liked the Nickelodeon highlight reel. She usually hates sports, especially football. She said “oh they actually want kids to have fun with it? Well I love it”

    Comment by SWIL_Voter Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:30 am

  35. Are people forgetting maroon 5? You may not have liked last nights but no one can say it was worse than maroon 5, can they?

Comment by Lurker Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:31 am

  36. - Give Me A Break -
That NIT Indiana team just knocked off #8 Iowa yesterday.
But I agree…Illini need to prove they can be consistently good, not just streaky. I’m not as confident as I was in ‘89 or ‘05, but I am excited.

Comment by Stu Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:38 am

  37. =The difference wasn’t in the QBs.=

3 TD’s and no pics. Brady was a big part of that win.

You are not wrong about the line play (both sides). Anyone with a little football knowledge knows how important the line is. It wasn’t a coincidence that the bears played better when the o-line came together.

But still, Tom Brady leads a superbowl in. Compare that to last year and the big difference is Brady.

Comment by JS Mill Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:38 am

  38. Birds on the Bat -

Didn’t watch, but how was it worse than Up With People?

  39. I hate halftime shows. All of them. They’re like kids’ birthday parties–always trying to outdo the last one. I’d rather watch paint dry.

Comment by Steve Rogers Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:40 am

  40. “The Weekend” was as good as a Monday morning.

Comment by Nagidam Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:42 am

  41. ==Jim Cornelison should be the only National Anthem singer ever.==

I agree that Jim is among the greatest SSB singers alive. But Whitney Houston, on that night Superbowl XXV, sang the best, most emotional, most perfect and beautiful all-time rendition of the National Anthem ever as far as I am concerned.

Comment by Responsa Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 10:59 am

  42. I thought the halftime show was OK. It wasn’t one of the worst ever as some have said.

That said, my favorite in recent memory (Prince isn’t recent memory) was Bruno Mars. Consummate showman.

Comment by Ron Burgundy Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 11:25 am

  43. Watching Patrick Mahomes yesterday gave me a glimpse of what he could have been as a Bear. A talented quarterback forced to run for his life.

Comment by Jocko Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 11:56 am

  44. “Prince’s halftime show is the best ever.” Yet people still remember the Left Shark.

Comment by Skeptic Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 12:12 pm

  45. ^^ Jocko for the win. Patrick’s line was lacking last night(whether it was from injuries or Covid protocols), and he looked like Mitch on one of his worse days. Amazing how important the “grunts” are, yet all we ever focus on is the guy who takes the snap.

Comment by Roadiepig Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 12:12 pm

  46. Best and Remembered are two different criteria

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 12:13 pm

  47. My favorite “alternative” Super Bowl halftime show was 2010 when Scott Lee Cohen withdrew his LG nomination after all his drama surfaced. He made his announcement probably while the halftime show was on:

  48. Aerosmith did one heck of a halftime show. Prince’s was epic.
The other 90% are snooze shows

Comment by Drake Mallard Monday, Feb 8, 21 @ 12:30 pm

  49. As far as halftimes shows go, the one with Janet Jackson was arguably the most revealing.
