The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 3,667 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 87 additional deaths.

- Winnebago County: 1 female 60s, 1 male 70s, 1 female 80s, 1 male 80sCurrently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,108,430 cases, including 18,883 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 69,285 specimens for a total 15,553,319. As of last night, 3,001 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 608 patients were in the ICU and 320 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from January 19–25, 2021 is 4.6%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from January 19–25, 2021 is 5.7%.
A total of 1,227,625 doses of vaccine have been delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 537,050 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities. This brings the total Illinois doses to 1,764,675. IDPH is currently reporting a total of 719,995 vaccines administered, including 110,403 for long-term care facilities. Yesterday, a total of 27,232 doses were administered. The 7-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 30,180 doses.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced Region 8 (DuPage and Kane) and Region 9 (Lake and McHenry) are moving to Tier 1 effective today. Information about which tier and phase regions are in can be found at the top of the IDPH website homepage.

I find it difficult to process what is ultimately good news without feeling the shadow of the impending other shoe.
I hope there isn’t another shoe.

There is nothing more important than getting first doses into as many people as possible.
Who has the governor put in charge of effort?
Dr. Ezike has her hands full with all of the covid issues. This is logistics and organizational bulldozing as much as medicine.
This is `where are the doses, and why [redacted] are they still not in people?’

Students left Champaign about 2 months ago. COVID levels took a month to peak, and have been dropping ever since. Students have now returned, and there were lines out the door at several campus bars on Saturday night. New cases are cooking right now. I’m so sick of this merry go round. Doesn’t anyone else see the problem?
