ISP will have “all available resources at our disposal” to respond to threats

Posted in:

* We talked about this a bit earlier today

The FBI is warning of plans for armed protests at all 50 state capitals and in Washington, D.C., in the days leading up to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, stoking fears of more bloodshed after last week’s deadly siege at the U.S. Capitol.

An internal FBI bulletin warned, as of Sunday, that the nationwide protests may start later this week and extend through Biden’s Jan. 20 inauguration, according to two law enforcement officials who read details of the memo to The Associated Press. Investigators believe some of the people are members of extremist groups, the officials said. The bulletin was first reported by ABC.

“Armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from 16 January through at least 20 January, and at the U.S. Capitol from 17 January through 20 January,” the bulletin said, according to one official. The officials were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

The ISP remain vigilant in our mission to protect the safety of those engaged in the process of democracy, constitutional rights and public institutions. The ISP and local law enforcement will have all available resources at our disposal to respond to threats identified through federal, state and local intelligence.

  1. The rule of law is being put to a treasonous test by rebels…that will fail…again.

  2. Thanks GOP for not helping this in the least. You just had to humor him, didn’t you? What could be the harm in that?

  4. In all honesty, will these officers protect when the time comes? I’m not saying all, but will there be some who don’t? There’s already multiple confirmed stories of off-duty police being in attendance at the protest (maybe the siege itself), 2 capitol police have been suspended and 10-15 more are under investigation. This is a serious topic that needs to be discussed.

  5. Probably not a good time to defund the police.

  6. ==will these officers protect when the time comes==

If the military or the police were really involved, we would have some real problems and they probably would have got it right the first time. The military and police don’t want a Trump family dynasty as much as the next person.

Look at this as our Whiskey Rebellion fueled by social media and the worst President in the history of the US.

I am unaware of any excessive force charge against any Illinois state police officer ever.

  8. As Rich told me a long time ago regarding pensions, “It’s your turn in the barrel.” I didn’t like it when he said that, but I survived because of the Illinois Supreme Court. Your cause celeb won’t be as lucky.

The far left and the far right are the fringes responsible for all of this. “Your mob/riot/deplorable activity is worse than my mob/riot/deplorable activity” is a mantra that leads to a bad place.

Defunding any type of police is a losing campaign and the far left needs to own its part, in addition to Trump and those who still support him.

  10. No.

    Stop.

An insurrection of the government is not the same

Anyone equating, anyone trying to “whatabout” that… is wholly wrong.

    Full stop. Not both sides.

The insurrection that occurred was not both sides or the far left.

    Period.

  13. I have been where civil wars were fought and spoken to the survivors. No sane person wants this. There is nothing civil about them.

The ballot box returns in two year’s for the midterms, settle it there civilly. If you think there was cheating, become an observer or a counter. Lobby for what you think the changes need to be for voting.

And stop treating each other with different ideas as enemies. We are Americans, we should act like it.

  17. The ISP NEED units of the national guard on the streets around Springfield. NO WAY ISP could handle 500 or more heavily armed insurgents. Priztker better wake up

  18. ISP, Springfield Police and Illinois National Guard are riddled with trump sympathizers so now how do you trust those standing in line next to not to turn their weapons on you? THe same thing dogged US troops in Iraq with joint efforts. One eye looking forward and one eye on the Iraqi next to you
