AG Raoul lashes out at RAGA over robocalls urging march to US Capitol

Posted in:

* NBC News

An arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association, a national group representing the top law enforcement officers in their states, sent out robocalls encouraging people to march to the U.S. Capitol the day before the building was stormed by a pro-Trump mob.

“At 1 p.m., we will march to the Capitol building and call on Congress to stop the steal,” said the voice on the recording, which was obtained by NBC News.

The calls, which did not advocate violence or suggest the building should be breached, was sent out by the Rule of Law Defense Fund, a fundraising arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association. The groups share funding, staff and office space in Washington, D.C.

In a statement to NBC News, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who runs the fund, said the calls were sent out without his knowledge.

Those tasked with upholding the rule of law should be the last to engage in promoting an attack against our democracy through robocalls. Subsequently denouncing the predictable violence that grows from it does not clean hands! pic.twitter.com/OLfWTx9fsZ

  1. I think it’s more useful, and honest, to yell at RAGA for lying about the election being stolen, not for “promoting an attack.” It was a (stupid) protest that turned into a riot. Not everyone who participated planned on it being a riot/insurrection, so again, this seems cheap from the AG.

  2. Raul is absolutely correct.

    Americans that would protest democracy, free and fair elections, and the rule of law, are not patriots. They are traitors. And when you encourage a mob of traitors to assemble the results are predictable. You cannot support the “protest” and condemn the rioting. They are one in the same.

  3. The Congress spends trillions but can’t afford unbreachable steel doors and unbreakable windows? Shame on the leadership of both parties.

    Pretty sure that’s what “promoting an attack against our democracy” means, but if the other shoe fits…

  5. “Shame on the leadership of both parties.”

    Shame on the leadership of both parties for failing to account for the violent mob stirred up by the leadership of exactly one party.

  6. Raoul is spot on. This was not some protest gone wrong, it was robo calls, organized buses of individuals (including by the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas), individuals with radios and zip ties, bombs, guns and mace and climbing tools, maps of the tunnels of the Capitol, information on how to find the secret office of Rep. Clyburn, never mind the inflammatory planning(letters with military references) and language at the rally from the President himself. this was a planned insurrection. The robocalls are abhorrent.

  7. Spot on, Amalia. Thanks for that.

  8. Good job AG Raoul for calling out RAGA. I think it’s all disgusting. Unamerican. This is not free speech or protest, these people have been lied to for months and coerced into violent rage by GOP leadership at all levels with few exceptions.

    The election was over in November, the electoral college made it official 3 weeks ago.

    Attorneys General should be unified in their efforts to condemn the election lies and fully prosecute the traitors who threatened the lives of police and congress persons alike.
